Hunting questions from Oregon
    #2475721 -

I know alot of the season is gone, but if im not mistaken there are still some actives (cubes?) that are going to be coming or are here already. I was just curious if elevation plays much of a part in searching, its one thing I haven't heard much about. Im interested in searching around the Mt Hood area if elevation isnt a huge factor. Alot of forest and shade I thought may give a great growing place for mushrooms. However most of this area is all conifers instead of hardwoods, just thought Id mention that.

Sorry im still new to hunting, I went out a few months ago without a proper guide book, had alot of fun picked a bunch of different kind of mushrooms I don't even know if any were active, but it sure was alot of fun. Thanks for any help.

Cubes grow onluy from Teas to Florida and north to South Carolina.

They do not grow in Oregon or Mt. Hood except in someones basement, cellar or attic.

They've popped up in some parks in the Willamette Valley extending from Portland through Eugene. They were cultivated of course.

I am anxious to see the results of some mycelium still growing from a bed that was inoculated two years ago with mycelial waste, it hasn't fruited yet, but I am crossing my fingers.

I do agree though. Cubes do not grow wild in Oregon.
