I did that too. I've gone back to spraying until I know where my bacteria is coming from though

I would think a negative ion generator like Josex and natedognow suggested would do a much better job of sinking floating particles like spores and dust than spraying water will

Dude you talk with such authority sometimes... like no fucking shred of a doubt . Some phrases like 'I think', 'could be', would be nice additions to your posts.
There's no bacteria there. Even if I could not tell visually, the method being using to transfer will make bacteria grow first on the plate before the myc starts growing. I don't feel like explaining anything because it's already written somewhere.

you are 100% right about that. I'll start working on that.

it just doesn't make sense to me for myc to switch it's energy from colonization to fruiting before it has access to every bit of energy possible. from an efficiency standpoint wouldn't you want as much nutrition as you can get before moving on?

It is not guaranteed anywhere that myc has to colonize 100% before fruiting. In nature, myc will never fully
colonize its substrate seeing as that is impossible yet will fruit just fine. 100% is just a good indicator of when
fruiting will happen but I'm fairly sure that it's possible for it to pin without there being bacteria present.
A thought not a theory

It's unusual to get pins before 100% colonization but it happens.

At least for me, bacterial agar cultures have never pinned faster whatsoever.

Mycology is such a baby science yet and we have very little proof to back up some claims, but I have a gut feeling that that happens in those instances when bacteria gets such a foothold on part of the substrate that makes it impossible for myc to colonize, so myc thinks its job is done and starts to pin as a survival response. Very typical seeing that with cakes.

Edit: the survival response theory though, I was just parroting that and I don't know if I buy it.
How about noobs waiting a long ass time to get those parts of the cake colonized? They never colonize and the colony starts pinning just because it has to.

I forgot to mention in my test, I live in a hard water area, not only does my water contain chlorine, but also calcium bicarbonate.
The calcium bicarbonate, is the soluble end result (clear) of CaCO3 (white, insoluble) + CO2, which also has an effect.

My cold tap water has a pH of 7.5-7.8, the bicarbonate also reacts with acids (decay), useful for leeching.

In the pegs case, it should have absorbed the trace chlorine and bicarbonate.

----

@natedawgnow, I agree, mycelium tend to focus more on fruiting than colonizing outdoors.
There is also the case of other micro-organisms taking what the mycelium wants.

Mycelium-other is far more likely to populate an "optimal" substrate.
Given that room temperature and regulation play a part.

----

Try growing outdoors, in an area full of various "hungry" animals, and all you have is sticks.

Thanks all for SAB technique sharings. Sounds like I've been spraying mine too much.

Black cat, coir in oyster buckets works well. Also, the babbies will just push the micropore out - no need to do anything.

Oh nice! I think I may just stick to sterilized supplemented bags this time around. I need my coir for my cubes.

Here are today's images, plus enhanced images to get over the plastic, cubensis colonizing lignicolous materials.
Normal speed and population, well fed, not weak, more active on mild acidity pH 6.0-6.5, sugar assisted.

Requires leeching and trace starter carbon (glucose, other sugars).

Cool thanks hatter. Never had to report anything, but good to know.  How blatantly and utterly fucking stupid can someone be. I can't comprehend how someone can go on a page clearly label MUSH CULT and ask for steady pounds lol if its not leo its someone who ate paint chips while being dropped on their head repeatedly as a child

a friend from work and I were talking about the average reading level of presidents and how trump is the lowest and lincoln was the highest, I used to think we lost democracy completely but if you think about the average reading level of americans it lines up with our elected officials. maybe democracy is still alive in america
