Is this a contam?
    #2478544 - 03/27/04 07:00 PM (14 years, 1 month ago)

Hello,

I'm getting the feeling this is a contamination:

It's about 2 square cm and stuck to the glass. The rest of the mycelium is not quite touching the glass. The color of it is more like a light tan. The picture is from a crappy diggycam.

Thanks!

Yeah I know it's hard to tell. My digital camera was a cheap-o 4 years ago. In the top picture, you can kind of see the brownish spot near the bottom of the glass.

I had this previously in PF jars with aggressive strains like Golden Teacher. The second pic is, in my opinion, some compacted mycellium due to aggressive colonization that seems to create some mushroom flesh. If you let it grow and don't birth it, it will eventually turn darker in color for some reason (probably rotting)

On the first pic, the dark spot on the top of the jar is more ambiguous...

You will probably be able to get some fruits if you cut the top part of the cake and birth it as a cake.

.fs.
