Do Psilocybe cyanescens need air exchange during colonization in shoeboxes?

Let's say you were trying to make bulk spawn indoors for use in an outdoor bed, and had plastic shoeboxes (rectangular 6 qt Sterilite storage containers) that were filled with a 1:4 mix of myceliated wood chips (from an established Psilocybe cyanescens bed) and fresh, pasteurized/soaked alder chips and shavings.
Should airholes be poked into the top of the shoeboxes during the initial colonization stage, or are they fine during spawn run with the lids on and sealed? If airholes are needed, what size and amount would you aim for, to optimize airflow while minimizing contamination?
Most of the stuff I've read says that cyanescens need 0 air exchange during colonization, but does that really mean they are fine in a completely airtight container until primordia formation?

For what it is worth, you could just use the shoebox lid during colonization and get enough air for GE while minimizing FAE.
If you wanted to go even further you could Saran Wrap the shoebox and use a toothpick to place 4-5 holes in the plastic, then cover with MP tape.

Thanks. So, just to clarify, you're saying that you think the shoebox lids are loose enough that they would let enough air through that holes aren't needed?
What would be the benefit of doing the plastic wrap instead?

There is a whole thread dedicated to shoebox growing with the kids on and getting enough FAE (mushboy) so it should be fine.
I was just saying that if you wanted to limit FAE, you could do the plastic wrap, although it looks like FAE isn’t as important as periods of cold.
Best of luck! Let us know how it goes.
