I have some ideas for when the basement is rebuilt to give morels another go.

Anyone have secrets the Chinese are using to grow morels outdoors?  Seems they cover the crops and can make upwards of $340k an acre @$50 a lb fresh.  As low as $7k an acre.  Seems the spawn lowers yeild over time, so I assume they are not replanting yearly.

There is a thread on this site about biochar and morels.  Did not get much fanfair as I think it should.

If I got the best yields yearly the chinese get I would get $42,500 gross in my backyard.  Still have 16 cases of quart ball jars.  Want to get 2 pressure cookers and a flow hood.

Damn basement is taking forever.  Gotta get my landlord/family member to rebuild the termite damaged window frame replaced.  Then I can finish drywall and the electric.  Will have the perfect morel sclerotia temps.  Summer temps are mostly 68 all the time.  Plus I have a window a/c unit and a gas fireplace if winter myc crop is a thought.

I can crop 250k a year in 2 15x40ft grow rooms, and a lot more reliable than a crop that's been shown to diminish anually.  That's not all the in fa structure you need, not do I sell quite that much but it's a lot easier growING verticaly inside.  And when you factor that morels rarely get to $50/# to chefs, they are more like $30 and only $10 or less to pickers...There's a reason the morel farm indoors went out of business.  It's a lit harder to grow for marginally more $ than oysters or shiitake.

There is already a mushroom farm here.  Super hard to undercut them.

There are never enough morels to satisfy.
