Can you put a culture in the fridge......
    #2477000 - 03/26/04 03:00 PM (14 years, 1 month ago)

Hello,

I have a culture on agar that has almost stretched to the edge of the petri. I am not ready to use this, I am in the middle of moving to my new house.

Can I just keep it in the fridge till I need it?
Will the cold slow down the growth?
How long could you keep a "stalled" culture in the fridge?

I am thinking that putting it in the fridge should dramatically slow down the growth, and would guess that it would be fine for at least a few months.

Thanks for any help.

Peace

Yes, you can put it in the fridge, it will slow the growth considerably. Easily for a few months.

Hello,

That is what I was thinking, and that is where the culture is.  I just wasn't sure if that was going to help or not.

Thanks for clearing up my Q's.

Peace
