My Greenhouse, and how to build one like it! 12

Hey guys, thought I'd throw up some pics of my greenhouse and talk a little about it. I'm rather proud of it. It is just the right size for me, but could easily be expanded. I built it entirely from treated lumber, and painted all boards white with Killz. Here is the link for the blueprints and walkthrough: http://www.ana-white.com/2012/05/plans/barn-greenhouse
So, a few things I did differently... Instead of having mine sit directly on the ground, I leveled the ground and built a brick foundation for the greenhouse to sit on. This helps to keep the wood from sitting in water, and gives the pea-gravel floor a barrier. I ran electricity out to the greenhouse. It has green overhead lighting, circulation fan, heat, and grow lighting along with several GFI plugs. I also ran water out to it. It has a spigot outside as you can see in the photos, as well as a spigot inside and a ball valve keeping the plumbing to my future irrigation system closed off- for now.
Inside, I build a 3x5 work table with storage shelves underneath, a corner bench that is big enough for me to lay down and take a nap on, and several shelves for plant storage. It has a brick center walkway with a brick "patio" under the bench, the rest of the floor space is filled in with pea gravel to catch the runoff water.
My future plan is to set up rainbird irrigation system for a misting system inside the greenhouse and timed watering of the garden and flower beds around the house. My wife is also working on sewing cushions for the bench.
Let me know if you have any questions!
Here are a few photos of the outside:

At night things get fun and trippy..

Here's the corner bench, comfortable for nap times. Wife is still sewing cushions.

Some fun plants on the workbench:

More fun plants on the shelves. Need more plants!

Neat little "coffee table" my wife put together. Neat little place to set your coffee and run your fingers through the down-soft mood moss.

Great job man! That looks fantastic! Thanks for the link to the prints too, I've been wanting to build a small greenhouse for a long time now.

Thanks everyone. I'll be updating this post soon with more photos and info about how I sealed it and and how I put the shade cloth on. The link has everything you need to know about how to build a greenhouse, but there's a lot more you can do to this design to make it more functional.

Today I installed 3 new GFI outlets. I put one low under the workbench so I can have a place to plug in my radiator heater and keep the workbench outlets open. I put another next to the corner bench so my wife can plug in her cell phone... I put one more on the front of the greenhouse so I can have access to electricity from outside.
I also wanted to share some updated photos of the floor of the greenhouse. I used bricks to build a center walkway through the greenhouse, and to build a patio for the seating area. Everywhere else got pea gravel and sand to help dissipate water and hold in moisture to keep humidity high.
Here's the bench GFI

Here's the external GFI

If you are interested in this project, I highly recommend passive ventilation. I prefer a turbine vent high and a low intake vent that can be closed off in winter. If you go this route, here's a bonus tip: a 5 gallon bucket lid fits perfectly to seal the vent off for the winter!

And this is how I sealed around the vent

And the photos below show the floor

Alright guys, lets talk about plumbing, I'll discuss what I've done so far and what I have planned.
Before construction of this greenhouse, I dug a 2 foot trench from my house to the site. It was quite the job as I did it entirely by hand. I tapped into a cold water copper line with a sharkbite quick fitting. Fucking love those things. As the 1/2" PVC reaches the greenhouse, it first encounters a ball valve shut off. I put that in so that, if I needed to work on any of the components above, I could do so without having to shut off the main. This feeds into a copper and brass soldered system.
The first T feeds the outdoor sillcock
The next T feeds the indoor sillcock. Attached to it is a cheap ol' MiracleGrow feeding system. I like it because you can reuse the bottles that it came with to feed your own concentrated fertilizers, and you can make separate fertilizers for different plants based on their needs. You can also turn off the feeding so that it only runs water. Above all this is another ball valve. What it currently feeds is a direct-feed mister system

The misters can be found here I simply built a system on 1/2" pvc with T couplings every 24 inches. The perpendicular of the T was fitting with a cap which was tapped to fit the mister nozzle. It is connected to the ball valve by yet more sharkbite fittings and 1/2" PEX.
This is only a temporary fix. I hope to install an Orbit 4 Station Controller operating a Orbit 3 Valve Manifold. One of the valves will have a timer set to operate the misters every so many hours during the summer to keep the humidity up and the temperature down. One of the valves will operate a sprinkler system for the outdoor raised beds, and the last valve will operate the sprinkler system for the flower beds around my house.
Let me know if you have any questions!

Got the 300w LED grow lamp installed. Used the little EZ lower things to make it easy to adjust the height. Also plugged in the heat mat and rolled it out so it will lay flat.

It is 39 degrees outside.

Thank you so much for the link. Your greenhouse is a piece of art! As soon as I have some land I'm building something very similar. The brick barrier for the pebbles and as a foundation is genious.

I am brimming over with excitement! Seriously, thank you very much for posting your work and so many pictures of it. What an amazing little greenhouse!! I am stuck in-between enclosing my back porch and screening it in... now I think I can throw the enclosure out the window and build something like this to keep my plants in!! Thank you Thank you!

I've been looking at pre made greenhouses but after reading bad reviews and all the modifications you would have to do to them.
I've decided to go with this one.
I started to buy my materials a couple of days ago.
After I build my grapevine. It's strictly greenhouse action!!!
Thanks man!

Hey, nice greenhouse. I had a question or two on the electric run you made. Did you pull off of a dedicated breaker at your main panel or is this a run off of an existing circuit? Did you install a sub-panel in the greenhouse?
I'm working on the foundation to mine right now. I'm using a GAHT setup where I want to have DC powered fans blowing the air but with AC available to charge the batteries in case of a long period of clouds and for the grow lights. Also, did you run water into the house?
Thanks!
