sundance film "The Six-string Samarai"
    #2474214 - 03/25/04 07:01 PM (20 years, 26 days ago)

anyone see this flick?

it has a great soundtrack vintage-like  surfer music preformed by The Red Elvises,

The appocolypse has occured and the only city Las Vegas survived, everyone reverts back to hipster and swing type attire -except it is never washed. Living in the out lying desert areas of Nevada.

It is like mad max- everyone has to fend for themselves w/ limited resources.

The man to make it 500 miles first to Las Vegas with their guitar, will win the honor of "elvis" or "rock God status".

The only problem is there are no cars, bordellos ,  hipster gangs throwing bowling pins, balls  and chains, canables, neolythic mutants who try to kill you and Death w/ his 80's metal hair band  and electric guitars, all along the way trying to stop anyone with talent.

The Six string Samurai has a reputation for being deadly w/ his guitar - both musically and because the guitar holds a sword.

He befriends an orphan who helps lead him furthest to Las Vegas> only to be "out rocked" By death metal. The orphan takes his suit and his guitar and makes the journey for him.

Mainly instremental, throughout the whole movie, with sparse dialog- the directors use the music and Kung-foo action to tell the story. The cinematography is great and you fill encapsulated into the story.

a whimsical story, which makes anyone who ever wondered about going back into time, wishing for vintage rock or being a swank hipster guitar wielding god feel good about this film.

Has anyone seen this besides me??

I saw parts of that movie a long time ago (only about 15-20 minutes of it). I have wanted to see the whole movie for a long time, it looked cool.
