I saw this on the net and was wondering if it was legit...
 To extract the mycelium, simply add ~500g of Cranberry Juice mixed with 1/2 tsp of ascorbic acid crystals (vitamin C) to each jar of well-permeated mycelium and shake well. Add a glass marble as an agitator if you like. The acidified liquid will remove the active components, leaving behind the rye grains. Pour off the liquid and enjoy. The extracted liquid should be a milky consistency with a thick, frothy layer of mycelium. If you want to get all the material, then do a second extraction with another cup of juice.

My friend's tame monkey tried a colonised whole brown rice cake (no myc) in the blender with OJ... Filtered through cloth and extracted again.
He said it didn't taste bad at all and was active. 1 cup of colonised rice gave him a low level trip (no visuals, but definately stoned and a very pleasant few hours by himself with the lights off)
He intends to try with a spent cake and compare potency.
Summary... More fun than bananas

that sounds really disgusting. the mycelium piss and shit all over the place, not to mention the verm in there. i would just wait till they make mushrooms, since you can just eat those plain as day

There was no verm (as I said, the cake was 1 cup of pre-boiled and pc'd brown rice. That and a load of GT mycelium were all that was in it). The cake was washed 1st ('shit' & 'piss' are human terms anyway and don't really apply here).
The rice was filtered out and the juice tasted fine (exactly like mushrooms liquidised in OJ).
Really, it was sorta like making a salad out of a pile of lettuce seedlings (bit wasteful, but if you've got more than you will eat anyway - and you feel like a salad NOW - why not?).

hmm. This cake I have in my setup now doesn't seem to be all that active. Nothing has changed on the cake in over a week and the knots are all the same still. Since I have 2 more colonized cakes (55%) I was thinking about makin some. Just something I came across on the net and wondered if it was possible. Thanks!

Well I tried it and it was a pretty good buzz with mild visuals, i'm guessing it would be stronger if the cake would have fruited first though. In my living room there is this wallpaper that looks like a bunch of vines growing up the walls and across the celing. It made it look like they were really growing and shit heh.

a buddy and i took one colonized cake (not yet fruited) and mashed it into a quart of orange juice, strained the cake out after a few hours and drank the oj... we tripped mightily, about equiv to an eighth of dried shrooms...

ummm.... From everything I have read there is no "actives" in mycelium until pinning has started. And I my self have ATE a cake with verm and all with ZERO effect.

what you have read is wrong.... unfruited mycelia is very active, i myself have tested this (see the above post)... I tried the same experiment with a spent cake, it was weaker...
not sure if eating a cake is the way to go, unless you like golden shits...

I mixed 500 ml of cranberry juice with 1/2 tsp of vitamine c powder for every 1/2 pint jar. But I only did one jar.
