Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Saw this movie last night and it was pretty good. Very strange and trippy but with enough romance to take your girl to. Basically it's about this guy played by Jim Carey and his girl friend played by Kate Winslet. Their relationship starts to go bad so the girl goes to have a precedure done where they erase all memories of her boyfriend. After finding out what has happened the boyfriend decides to have the procedure done also. A lot of the movie happens in his mind while they are doing the erasing. Anyways it's a great movie and do not go expecting Jim Carey shtick as he seems to stay serious throughout the whole film. Also stars Elija Woods and Kirsten Dunst.

good flick, but I didn't like it as much as adaptation or being john malkovitch. Still, one of the better movies of the past few years.

I love Jim Carrey in serious roles. The Truman Show and The Majestic were both very good. I think he's a much better serious actor than he is a comedian.

Why, exactly, did you think The Majestic was a good movie? I completely failed to pick up on any redeeming characteristics of that film. Seemed like regular Hollywood overacting-swelling violin music-pleeeeease can I have an oscar-bullshit, with no inventive ideas of any kind.

Charlie Kaufman movies are always great though, anyone seen Human Nature? It kind of flopped, but I think it deserved to do a lot better. It took a different approach than his other movies, and fell a bit short in some ways, but overall it's a great movie.

I admit it wasn't terribly deep or anything, but I didn't think it was a bad movie. I was more commenting on his acting though, I just thought it was a good example of his versatility as an actor.

I agree, the very first scene of the movie it shows Jim getting out of bed. He kind of flops around and it might seem he is slipping into goofy mode. After that I would say I forgot Jim Carrey was playing the part through the whole movie. Also Elija Wood does a good job seperating himself from Frodo in a comedic way. Overall I would say great acting by all involved.

Yes, I've seen it now, and I say I really enjoyed it. I like how the characters had a very personal feel to them.. like they weren't "perfected up".. they looked like real people. (Clementine's 4 inch brown roots are a good example of what I mean here)

I really enjoyed the plot twists as well.. I don't want to speak of them though, for the sake of those who have not seen it.

i just saw it tonight and its a high quality film, with unique and creative cinematagraphy and a totaly original idea. Its done together beautifully. Very enjoying to watch.

great movie!
i liked that the movie really made me think about my own relationships and how its easy to take the good shit for granted and concentrate on the negative.

definitely one of the best movies ive seen in years.

This is a great movie not only because it isn't LINEAR or HOLLYWOOD, but because it is highly self-reflexive in nature dealing with our own memories, the memories we retain while 'watching' a movie, and the way in which film is structured to relie on memories themselves. It's loaded.
