Was your very first Mushroom grow a success or fail?

As I am on my first grow which is looking like it might be failing, I was curious when you were going your very first grow was it a fail? Or success? Or still waiting to find out?

Its also my first grow! Out of 16 cakes i have lost 4. It took forever for 8 of the cakes to pin ( 19 days ) but when they did. They exploded. I had to redo my sgfc 4 days into my grow. I spent like 500 dollars on things i didnt need or had to return because i didnt do my research and read the directions.
I feel like my experience so far has been successful. Even though contaminations have happened and ive had to correct a lot of my mistakes. i see it as a learning experience not as a failure.
Im sorry you feel like your first grow is not going well. Do not let it frustrate or discourage you.
I wish you the best of luck on your future endeavors!

Would you consider 2 grams of aborted pins harvested from 2 flushes of 4 brf cakes a fail? I honestly don't know what went wrong except that maybe i got a shitty draw of genetics with MS my first grow.

Mine was an abject failure, trich in every single jar despite (I thought) being meticulous with sterilisation. The next 2 attempts were no better and I even managed to let my PC run dry. As long as you keep persisting you will eventually see success.

I did a tray and a mono tub as my first grow. Both turned out amazing.

I answered failure, bc I didn't get fruit... but I gained from the experience in learning what too dry was: ended up with only one jar colonizing at all, and it stalled at 30%... research is definitely a must: that was the only time I incubated as well

Fucking 4 fails in a row... 3 times with BRF cakes of all things... would never colonize even 50% (i overcooked them in the PC and made them into blocks of glue)
And WBS failed and wouldn't colonize, i couldn't shake them at all. just stuck together, ended up birthing invitro...

Birthing invitro?
Bad wording... just fruited them in the jars on the last wbs.. still got a silly amount of fruits..

My results were not the best, but I learned a lot and got a few fruits. What I learned was definitely more rewarding then the few fruits I got though haha.

Why shaking so soon? I (and pretty common practice) wait until ~20%... this makes spotting early contamination easier bc (assuming you only inoculate one place, towards/on the glass) you should only have one primary source of growth... if you inoculate the "top left" and 2 days later, notice a spot in the "bottom right", there's a good chance (very probable in fact) that you're dealing with contamination... g2g can be performed, if the spread is minimal and clean mycelium can be accessed/removed without disturbing said contaminant... large fruit coming your way in bounties!

No, just shook one right out of the PC when it cooled, mainly cause my last time i couldn't get them to shake at all. like to the point i thought i would break the jar, it was just all stuck together.. so i'm just happy this time that it seems to be going a bit better.

Had amazing results using the pf tek the first time, next grow moved on to wbs shoeboxes in a Martha again great success, the next three runs all types of contamination. Moved onto monotubs and had some killer runs.

Still waiting to find out but so far, so good. My BRF jars are nearing week 3 and no signs of any contamination. Mycelium growth is on-target. So I went ahead and inoculated 8 more jars the day before yesterday.
I'm getting into mushrooms for health reasons, and I really think my grow is #blessed somehow. Can't shake the feeling that all will go well.
If problems do arise, no biggie, I'll just pick myself back up and try again, try better.
