This sounds crazy but my brother moved in temporarily from south florida. He smells of fucking mold and since then I've been in trouble.

Soapy soapy water. Spray that box down, get it in the air of box to hopefully knock it all down. Anytime you weren't as graceful as you think you should be, spray that fucker down.

I think ozium has helped a bit sprayed in the box and in the air. Or I've just learned to slow it down.

Heck, I even spray the interior walls of the SAB soaking wet. And then the air in the SAB. I never wouldve thought the wet floors, walls, and anything that couldve been wet in my shed would be problematic until I made transfers since the air is still.

EVERYTHING... GETS... CONTAMINATED.

Looks good to me. If you didn’t touch them the whole time they’re probably gonna be a bitch to break up and use. My method has been to swirl it until it’s going really fast and then suddenly change direction. That usually makes the myc blob explode but I’ve never had them as thick as yours.

Thanks for the reply, didn't have a chance to touch them that whole time unfortunately. Just found a tiny gnat floating on the surface of one, must have worked up through the threads? Guessing that LC is toast. I shook a clean looking one up vigorously and put it to grain. TBD..

I thought you would like to compare your lc to mine, since they're both about the same age...

On 8-03-21 I had 18 jars of prep. wheat, 12 wide mouth jars with 250ml. of 4% broth (20g.dextrose 20g. lme. to 1000ml. water.)

Also 15 salsa jars with 140ml. of lc's.
So I noc. up the grain jars and the quart jars of broth at the same time..

These two pics. where taken today, 8-14-21

not stirred..

Stirred..

these pics. are also taken today..

Grain jars after the first shake...

Plastic lids are working out good with their silicone seals. They handle 20 psi in my AA-941 without a problem.

You can use a silicone seal for the older white lids. they work super.

Thanks for the pics, I'm currently using unmodified lids, but they make me uneasy for LC, might just break out some old polyfill metal lids. Gonna run what I have so far and see what happens, tho. Thanks for the tip on those seals!

I always like using plastic lids compared to metal lids, but never trusted the seal during cool down after the pc. cycle.

Now with the silicone seal I don't worry.

Spawn jar with sfd. plus a ship from blood tube vacutainers. 21.00 dollars for a 100...

+1 for the plastic lids with gaskets. I don't even use them without gaskets for grain jars any more. Definitely not for LC. Liquid can come out if you shake it without a gasket - that tells me bacteria and spores can get in, and *will* get in if you take the jars out warm/hot.

The gray Ball leak-proof lids are incompatible with gaskets, the threads won't catch. These always contaminate for LC in my experience too. Not "leak proof" any more after the PC I guess.

Regular plastic lids with gaskets and whatman filters ftw. You can also use these gaskets with a flipped metal lid to get the advantage of a true seal without it getting stuck like it does with the factory canning seals.

How are y’all finding those so cheap? Every time I click the link (from Blue Helix as well) it shows $69. Does it fluctuate?
