Strange, I guess this is another case of 'your experience may vary'.

I do that too.

Got pics? The water in the bottles must nearly reach the lid no? I'd hazard a guess and say they're still gonna be fine as long as the LC was clean and you didn't introduce contams via technique.

I used to have to make fake wort to propagate yeast. Try pouring two 50 pound bags of that malt powder into 80 gallons of water. Pain in the dick. I think it works far better into luke warm but not hot water.
Im surprised more people don't just use the liquid malt extract

Bod, you also see more clumps when you pour warm water over the LME? It's not my case at all, stirring for 10 seconds is all it takes. Seeing the vid could change my mind if my shit clumped up, but it's not the case.

Never tried it the other way(wet to dry) Generally only when baking do you add wet to dry.
I always add the malt to water
In chemistry you almost always add dry to wet and hold back some wet and use that extra wet to wash all of the dry into solution to make up the intended final volume.

thanks for the info Bod I'll add the dry to the liquid next time. but I'm glad cold works for me either way. but i'll try luke warm to see the difference as well.
Definitely not trying hot again, no offense Josex but maybe it is the amount I'm making at a time or the type of malt that we are using differs somehow. just had to check one last time to know for sure I wasn't crazy.
I did a couple with the grain flour too and I'm liking them.
I rarely can notice a contam from visual so the cloudiness isn't a problem for me. I just was always scared of it for some reason.
well mainly because when I had really shitty technique, like noccing with spores, I would watch certain ones get very cloudy very quickly with nasty smelling bacteria.
haven't seen that for a long time and I trust my technique enough to not need that clear of a broth.
Thanks again buddy I think these are my new gotos!

There's roughly 80 ml in each but looks like the grain and hay soaked it up cause there's no pooling

Sorry but whats the TL;DR for the OP?
Is it: Poke myceliated agar with syringe, use this to knock an LC/other plate?

Roughly 50/50 hay/oat with some coir and Verm
For 12 bottles I mixed 2.25 qt oats 4 qt chopped hay 3 cups loose coir 2 cups Verm
May be a bit off topic but keep's the thread alive and I think it deserves a bump

Hey guys, something retro:

Just took the pic. This is one of the first LC's I made using this method nearly a year ago, dated 11/29 2016.
It was a pan LC I never used because it was obviously bacterial but I can't bring myself to trash this jewel.

this biopsy transfered ms plate is pinning like a mofo. date transfer was 10/27. could be coincidence with the varitey of ms but ive never had any plate pin this fast with so few transfers made.

the culture this was poked from looked like utter garbage too.

Well it has been 2 weeks since I knocked up some grain water LC this way. They colonized nicely! One I used a week back to pour into some grain jars. Shit is going nicely! I put 3 marbles in my jars before PC cycle, then I swirl 2-3 times a day. The jars are full of nice little pieces of mycelium that forms a beautiful cloud when let setting for a couple hours.
