Holy shit dude, you're gonna have LC to inoculate your lawn when it's ready. 500ml?

Your experience with unmodified lids may prove very useful, good to know it works. As we talked, LC's don't need that much GE if at all. I mainly use filters because I just happen to have them and because it helps me with the way I like to inoculate.

I love the unmodified upside-down metal lid when using jars. Have a little overflow of no-pour agar in some now.  Can vouch it works.  But then again you also remember my comment here earlier about doing LC in totally unmodified ziploc containers where they work perfectly even with the lid on correctly. They're very safe. I've shaken them around like making a cocktail, and tested them clean weeks later on all grows.  Squeezing them is the only true danger, air CAN exchange if you try to make it.

I'm considering getting out of the practice of modifying glass jar lids for spawn and seeing how it goes just doing those upside down too.

You guys' LCs are making me think mine might grow out faster if I diluted my rye/wheat/ryegrass boil water.  After all, the nutrition isn't affixed in place like it is agar.  Are people still finding any differences with LC concentrations?

i made my broth with 5g of oat flower per 500ml. so that was way more than called for. but it colonized really fast anyway.

also pulled another oz dry from the first shoebox. i definitely dig lc for clone testing mainly for the speed. and pouring is gangsta:stoned:
waiting for a master jar to colonize via wedge can be annoying when you have multiple clones to test. pics later

I used to make LME LC using one gram per 500ml. But now I always do 2 grams and I haven't noticed any real difference in speed of colonization. However I think the 2g LME LC usually grows thicker, but I'm not sure if there's really a correlation or it's just my imagination. We need someone like Ferather to conduct a weird ass shit experiment about this and then hire someone to translate what he says.

With flour I haven't tried heavier ratios than 1 gram per 500ml, it would be just too nasty and cloudy for my liking.
Nasty Mushboy did a heroic dose with 5g of flour and all went wonderfully, though.

About the recipes, I have seen that when diluted my grain water doesn't appear to grow much less mycelium or much slower, at least.

Maybe the difference is what I consider being a grown-out LC.  I like them to occupy a good chunk of the liquid when settled before I really use them. Of course they can be used earlier, they still have myc.

seeing recovery in 24 hours from most of the LCs
Got this nearly sporeless pe6 fruit first flush from a shoebox. Cloning the fuck out of that. Then doing this again.

Nice thick LC in 7-10 days if agitated once a day on broken glass. Even from that small little needle poke inoculation

Nice one jose

I definitely just sat in my living room on the couch to aspirate the LC and inoculate it through my noob SHIPs.

Very nice bod, 24 hrs recovery is very fast, never seen it myself with LC's. Looking forward to seeing that clone in action too.

I like that all your LC's are from ms cultures. The poke can take ms grows to the next level, easy, you'll see. I don't know if you are going to notice much of a difference because you seem to have a way with mushrooms regardless of the method being used, but yeah I'm expecting good things from this.

Shaking will damage the myclium.  If you want to distribute LC around the grains upon inoculation GENTLY roll the media vessel around for like a second or two.  Shaking vigorously the LC upon inoculation will cause the myce to not recover.

I shake every LC inoculation I've done just after inoculation to distribute the moisture from the 10+ cc of LC I add. Just be careful not to get the filter wet when you shake. Never had a recovery problem or colonization problem aside from making a bad LC here and there. Clean jars finish in 4-7 days with no shake but the shake I do when I inoculate. same for g2g

I don't see how shaking would damage it more than say a blender would. I shake my LC jars and there's a ton of broken glass in the bottom of them

I always gently roll.  When I shake vigorously the myce doesn't recover for me.

Nope, I just forget about them and wait 3 or 4 days to give the jars the first shake. No roll or anything after inoculation. By that time the bottom of the jar should be white with myc and some myc on the surface of the grains as well.

I don't shake because I usually pour more than 10cc and can easily get the filter wet. I did that once and got mold on the SFD , never again.

I did a dozen jars of grain last week with LC. I shaked 6 after the inoculation, and the other 6 I did not shake. The shaken ones do indeed seem to have much slower recovery than the not shaken ones. Some have no growth at all. The unshaken ones all seem to have atleast some growth around the bottom and one side.

there's probably some other problem going on if a week later your jars are only just getting going. they should be done or nearly done after a week.

You love your noob needles eh bod?

I was really surprised as well to see how much growth I got so quickly from such a small wedge. I didn't even shake mine till day 7 and I'm going to be inoculating bottles tomorrow!! The cultture looks promising though I cant wait!!

Yeah, like I mentioned in the other thread, I believe it was due to overly dry grains. It could, of course, also just be a bad LC. But the thing to take away from it is that although all the jars were pretty shitty, the ones not shaken were uniformly significantly better than the ones that had been shaken.
