I saw this movie in theaters a few days ago. I don't usually like movies all that much, but I must say... it is a masterpiece.
Throughout the whole movie, it is action packed, and extremely intense (although I was quite stoned when I saw it, so that may have made it more intense). If you haven't seen it I really would suggest going and seeing it, it's very very good, one of the best (if not THE best) living dead movies I have seen.

I thought the original was kind of crazy, how the bikers seemed to just randomly show up at the mall. I enjoyed it more than the original though. The zombies are so much better, and smarter, and more intense in the new one. I guarantee you, you'll like it. Go and see it now, I command you.

I'm afraid it will scare me if I go see it. The last "horror" movie I saw was Cabin Fever and I had some of those images branded into my brain for months.
But I have a feeling that my husband will want to see it anyway on his day off...so who am I to deny him?

Heh, how did it compare to 28 Days Later, folks who saw both?
28 Days Later was a very well done movie, with good acting, interesting ideas, etc.
But I realized about halfway through it "I'm not enjoying this, I'm just scared. And urine is really cold when soaking into a theater seat."

I haven't seen it yet, but I highly recommend the original George A. Romero film.

28 Days Later was a much better movie. Not that Dawn is bad. The new Dawn has some really good parts (the first 10 minutes are hands down the best zombie movie ever made). But if you're paying attention, there are many inconsistencies and plot holes in it. Look at the discussion board on IMDB, if want to see them documented. These holes resulted from somewhere around 30+ minutes being cut from the film. Wait for the directors cut DVD thats being talked about.

I have to echo that. The original is a classic in a way that the remake will never be.
But for people who haven't seen it, remember it is fundamentally a 70's B movie. Most people I know who saw the original first, dislike the original because of its low production value and the fact that Romero clearly did not intend to make a movie that was serious all the way through (he says so in the commentary on the 2 Disc dvd). So rent it, watch it, but remember that "remake" has next to nothing in common with the original and that the movies really belong to 2 different genres (like Alien and Aliens).
