Indeed I did, the base recipe is intended for wood loving (lignicolous) mycelium.
So for cubensis, the tea should be handled like gentamicin, or similar.

Gelatin makes the agar much softer, I use pegs to transfer.

For cubensis, Mycolorado's recipe, no gelatin:

200g > Boiling hot water.
2g > Malt extract.
4.25g > Tea.
4g> Agar.

You may need to experiment a little.

I've tried searching and asking this question before but never got an satisfactory answer. It's about the effects of increasing/decreasing the nutrition % in LC. In this case I will use LME LC recipes. Old recipes said to use about 10g lme /qt of water (CH Hell's recipe), while nowadays the consensus is to use much less, like 1g/qt of water (TL's recipe). So my question is what is the benefit of using these lower nutrient recipes? I'm naturally inclined to believe that more is better, so I'm really curious as to why such low amounts are preferred nowadays. Thanks.

I haven't eaten shrooms since ~2014. These chocolates do sound appealing though...

Sometimes I can feel very subtle effects of mushrooms, when I pick a whole bunch of them.

Ok I understand now.  Well the ones I touched just to see how it felt lol, were damn stiff too.  I pour mine but it was basically a greasy puck that I could spin inside the Petri.  If your saying you inoculated them one the 23 which is only 3 days ago then I highly doubt you would be seeing mycelium yet.

I just did 6 transfers 3 days ago and im just starting to see some growth and that was from a strong growing dish.

The spores that I used to inoculate the Petri's with took about a week to see growth.

To reduce the contamination chance, the more sugar, the higher the chance of failure.

In most cases, + speed + growth = + chance of invader infection.

Here is another trick I learned.

Primary-semi-primary mycelium seem to be able to utilize protein for both carbon and nitrogen.
In my tests gelatin did not germinate a thing, nothing noticed, open to air (exposed).

You could chip away at the sugar source, and begin replacement with gelatin.
Example: 1.8g sugar, 0.2g gelatin | 1.6g sugar, 0.4g gelatin, so on.

I would not advise going over 0.8g gelatin (soft).

This is the inside of my spray bottle after a year. It's pretty gross and not something I normally think about as needing to be cleaned. I don't know if this is the reason to my recent one and done tubs or what. Maybe so. This is probably common knowledge to all you old hats but for us noobs it might not hurt to disinfect the spray bottle from time to time.

its funny i was just reading a interview/questionnaire about things this guy has learned in commercial mushroom farming.

one of them was... 'clean your spray bottles with dilauded bleach weekly. you have no idea how nasty water can get'

im like .. clean my mister??

On the same lines, I don't suggest assembling soluble nutrients with tap water into a bottle, open air, and then storing it for months.
I got mold germinating in it, but I live in a hard water area (contains hydrated lime, CaCO3), hence germination.

Interestingly CaCO3, in the soluble form calcium bicarbonate will also germinate yeast, and spores.

Calcium Bicarbonate [Ca(HCO3)2]: 14.82% Carbon | 2g = 0.296g Carbon.
D-Glucose [C6H12O6]: 40% Carbon | 2g = 0.8g Carbon.

Thanks mushboy. I've been researching homebrewing and there has been talk on all the bacteria in plain tap water. It would be a shame to put in all the time to get to a flush just to have it tam out because of a funky mister.

It's usually fine except in instances where the (same) water is going to be sitting around for longer than a week or so.  If you pump through your mister regularly and refill it each time, it would take a lot longer to get nasty, but yeah just water alone can produce some horrific shit given enough time, for sure.  I mean, humans exist.

Well.. bacteria's still not great. (well, some of it might be)  It's like little bits of propaganda that slip through, and the mold is the actual infantry.  Bacteria won't do much on its own, but it'll turn a few of your guys more easily over to their side once they start trying to storm the place.

I know I went months without cleaning my mister at one point.  I also experienced a lot of contamination I didn't quite know the source of.  Whether that's a coincidence I'll never really know without purposefully doing it again.  Devoting months to confirming "yes, this fucks shit up" sounds like an exceedingly thankless endeavor though, so don't count on it from me.

Yeah bacteria is no fun but a cube sub will eat up bacteria that lands on the sub no problem its those losing battles where folks spawn bacterial jars where ya see bacterial problems at fruiting which in most cases simp lyg leads to mold.

As for misters i always clean mine out andvreplace them almost monthly..they cost two bucks

Enriched tap water and enriched cellulose, takes 6-8 months to get mold the size of a shirt button, from air.
I still have caution with starch, however, starch is fairly resistant to contamination (see here).

Unless you stick your fingers in dirt or chicken, then the substrate, I have to agree.
Healthy spawn, should devour-restrict invaders before they germinate.

Clean grain is vulnerable for a short period, after mixing.
