Wow, That's just fuckin' great! Shit, I would of just loaded up the middle of bail with spawn, or stubbs, or LC or something. But I live in the city, and people usually don't have bales of hay lyin' around their yards.
I'm in the sticks.... During the colder months hay is needed...so it's not uncommon to have 4-7 bales around at all times to feed cattle.... I squirted the bale with spores, 2 days later the bale of hay was gone...

how are you fruiting these? that almost resembles this shoebox of mine but i abused/neglected the shit out of it

but it pinned like a beast. you are letting it dry out too much and soaking it with too heavy of misting.

dang, did those abort?? I fruited it in a 25 quart unmoddded tub and flipped the lid. I misted every couple days...ran the 25q in some water then let the water out so that once i put the lid on it just got lots of condensation...after the sub looked super dry i put some water in it let it sit for a while then let the water run out..if that makes sense. #edit the second time i put water IN the shoebox and tilted it so that the water ran out

what flush is that? id only water a shoebox after the first flush. its a small enough substrate where misting should be enough.

it was the first flush off golden teachers...i didnt fully submerge the sub, i just poured it along the sides where the sub was no longer touching the walls. and then an hour later poured out the excess.

Hey mush-therapy I don’t remember who these quotes are from now but I copied them to my phone because I thought they may come in handy
“Direct misting is fine. If your mister pukes out large droplets, it can bruise the mycelium. Misting isn't just for humidity. In fact, it's not for humidity at all. Humidity is supplied by the perlite. Misting is to replace lost moisture in the substrate due to evaporation. Misting also directly supplies water to the growing mushrooms.”
“You can easily tell bruising from mold. Bruising will be the color of the mycelium, just like a bruise on your knee is the color of the skin. Mold spores will appear as a distinct layer above the mycelium, just as a scab appears distinctly above the damaged skin on your knee.” (I think this may have been Pasty?)
Again, not me saying this just some info I didn’t want to forget

Pretty sure those are both good ol Roger. I know the first one is. I studied his notes like a crack head when I was getting started.

Just me but I wouldn't use perlite in a fc with shoeboxes. I'd go monotub instead

Munch answered that. Perlite is for sgfc. I'd use a mono with micro tape or pinky filters, or polyfil or whatever not a soggy bottomed tote
