F*ck the FCC....
    #2472797 - 03/25/04 11:31 AM (20 years, 7 days ago)

I was listening to the local morning show in my area and they've been mentioning the fines now (since the whole Janet Jackson boob thing) and said that they can now be fined $250,000 for saying crude and vulgar speech (whetever that is). What's pathetic is that the boob thing happened on TV and not the radio and it seems that the radio people are the ones that will suffer the most from these fines.

The FCC is being run, IMHO, by a bunch of old stodges with nothing better to do but become the fun governors of the United States.

Howard Stern, I believe, has mentioned this site.

The FCC could be making real, positive changes to EM spectrum regulation, but instead wastes its time fighting "vulger" speech.

I think the chairman of the FCC had some good ideas about and impulses about loosening spectrum regulation, but never made progress against the FCC beurocracy. Now, he's worried about his job and persuing vulgarity to score guarentied political points.
For the good days, see this speech he made in 2002:
http://www.fcc.gov/Speeches/Powell/2002/spmkp212.html

Don't underestimate the importance of spectrum regulation. Opening up the spectrum to competition could result in a massive boom in inovation of new products, solve the "last mile" internet access problem, and possibly have as great or greater an effect on how people communicate and live their lives than the internet.
And the FCC wastes its time on "crude and vulgar speech"!  :mad2:

Thanks for the link!

Edit: acctually, I couldn't get it to work - the site may be down.
I'll try again later.

I thought as much, but what they hell, it's worth a try even if it's futile.

FCC to regulate 'profane' speech:

Christian fundamentalism at it's best. Land of the free, indeed.
