someone's going to de driving with a lot of questionable things in his car, not stuff police dogs are usually trained for. if he gets pulled over he will be sober, calm ect. he would cooperate except if asked for permission to search car he will refuse. they can't search the car then without warrant correct? just call for k-9 unit and run the dog around the car? so the dog dosn't hit on anything you would be free to go or will they fuck with you because you refused permission? even so they can't arrest you for it just give excessive tickets ect. right? thanks

a dog can "hit" if an officer taps the side of your door and the dog jumps up, barks, or pays any attention to it. i know this from a close friend's personal experience. just be cool and cooperative but insist you don't have time for a search, pray for the best. around here, and also in some places I've visited in Florida-cops will do whatever the hell they want.

Be polite as well... "Sir, I am already late and my wife is upset with me as it is. Unless I am being detained, I really would prefer to be on my way."
Also, if you have anybody else in the car, be damn sure that you have the same story to tell.
Don't be afraid to laugh... guilty people are nervous, and nervous people don't laugh at jokes... "Is there anything I should know about in your car? Drugs, guns, dead bodies, nuclear bombs... anything like that?" Give a quick smile and a small laugh, "No sir, no nuclear bombs or anything like that."

I would suggest saying your wife is in labor at a hospital (but you have to make sure you're going in the direction of one).

I wouldn't tell a bold faced lie like that. If you look/act appropriatly during a traffic stop, a cop won't even ask to search (unless he suspected you of a crime before pulling you over). Of course if your a long haired hippy with a pot leaf on your shirt, he might be a little more likely to suspect you of holding.

Don't be afraid to laugh, but don't be afraid to be pissed, either. Most people are nervous when pulled over, and innocent people can be pissed when their integrity is questioned.
More, just don't violate any traffic laws. Always use your turn signal when changing lanes, stay about 5mph over the speed limit, always come to a complete stop when at a stop sign. A cop can only pull you over if you violate a traffic law.
It is illegal to have a road block for the purpose of intercepting drug trafficers. If you see a roadblock advertised, don't pull off the highway - it's probably a trap to catch those who want to avoid a roadblock.
Don't have suspicious bumper stickers. These can be pro- or anti- drug bumper stickers. Plenty of drug runners have DARE stickers, and the cops know it.

DARE made me lose faith in my teachers and law enforcement officers. After I realized they had been feeding me full of shit. I understood that they would also lie about other stuff.

Yah, DARE is shit, and everyone knows it.
All I'm saying is, don't use an anti-drug bumper sticker to protect yourself from unwanted attention on the road- it'll make you less safe.

If you look, somewhere in this forum a link was posted to a guide that is given to cops to spot drug traffickers......it's a good read if your planning on trafficking drugs.

I wouldn't suggest saying that you don't have time or anything similar. Police are trained to put forth an aire of authority and by not consenting to a search you are bucking that authority. So, by challenging their authority by not consenting to their request, the cop won't be pleased. That being said, you should NEVER consent to a search whether you have anything in your vehicle that is questionable or not. In my experience the best thing to do is be calm and know your rights. Most rights advocates would suggest simply saying, 'I do not consent to a search of my vehicle'. That conveys your point without embellishing. Face it, If they want to search your vehicle they will find a way. You must be careful what you say because you may be fighting in court and you want the law on your side. Most cases are won on technicalities.
By obeying traffic laws your risk of being stopped dinimishes.
