Hell yes.

My Grandma used to pack my Dad squirrel meat sandwiches for school lunches.

I had some fresh duck last winter down in NC. They are handsome pieces of meat.

I am going deer and bear hunting this season. You too?

I've eaten squirrel before...it is best done in a stew and cooked off the bone...very tough otherwise.

Duck meat varies greatly by what species you shoot. The best I have tasted are wood duck, teal, canvasback, then mallard (in that order.) I have hunted the diver ducks on the Chesapeake bay for many years and must say that most of them ...blue bills, buffleheads, goldeneye, red heads and widgeon are not very appetizing...this also depends on what they are feeding on.
Canada goose is not one of my favorites either....we usually just breast them out and make jerky.

I haven't hunted for a few years mostly because the number of hunters has sky rocketed while the # of ducks has dwindled. I have a pretty good rig with a 18' Carolina skiff 70 hp Yamaha and Avery blind along with 300 or so decoys both loose and rigged on lines. I have witnessed some amazing sights out on the Bay....thousands upon thousands of migrating ducks blackening the sky and sometimes 2-300 decoying at the same time.

We've also body booted on the Susquehanna flats which is a whole other subject....wearing dry suits standing up to your chest in freezing water behind oversized goose silhouettes with gun rack and shotgun shell case built in....crazy shit out there in January.

Definitely depends on how theyre prepared too. A good soak in salt/vinegar followed by a slow cook in a crock pot can be pretty dank. Peppered jerky is usually a go to for waterfowl though

The amount of hunters and fishers out and about has sky rocketed. You are right about that.  I used to go down the local beach and rarely see another soul. Not anymore. The best is when city folk decide to fish right on top of you when there's miles of empty water/beach.

The squirrels here in Florida are pathetic. They don’t look like they have much meat at all, it would take a lot of squirrels to fill some bellies. They tease my dog though, id absolutely feed cooked squirrel meat to my dog.
