I do the same thing, but in my pc. I've jumped the gun every time though and poured too hot, condensation is a bitch. Especially when cloning. My clone plates are a covered in mycelium/bacteria laden water. It's gonna be a bitch to clean up

Try tea agar, or gentamycin.

this was taken from a 2015 print of stropharia from the previous grows in this thread. anyway, its looking good so far. when the pins looked like this today, the filters were changed from folded 3 times, to rolled in all holes. that was all. its ready to begin fruiting. it was top layered at spawning.

STRO2

this is an attempt to revive a REDBOY culture that has survived 5 days with no power at 86 degrees. it is also from 2015 or earlier. it was a gift so im not sure how old it truly was before 2015.
for about 4 days it did nothing. today it is showing some signs of moving along. ill transfer a way from what appears to be some bacteria about 5:30. its a little blurry of a shot.
anyway, let the games begin.

What is that stropharia? That's not the spp. stropharia/garden giant, correct?

I'll look into it, currently my media bottle is full so gentamycin would be my best bet right now. Honestly I'll probably go the hard route for the learning experience.

A mist couldn't hurt when the water droplets start to dry up a tad more but fanning isn't necessary

Gentamycin is not necessary, unless you have a pretty severe bacteria problem. There are also other options, such as sandwich and hot pouring... Then there is, as I mentioned, tea agar, etc...
That link to hot pouring isn't a link to a tek... Just a thread of a guy doing it, but I think it is explained well enough. I didn't wanna hunt down a tek.

I am just getting past this issue. Store your plates upside down. This causes the condensation to pool in the lid, instead of on the agar, and in turn take away the bacteria's "highway", the water pools. I just did a round of transfers on all of my plates and they are stored this way now. I checked them like 12 hours ago and there was a dramatic decrease in bacteria and the cultures should be away from it in a couple days, when I should be able to make clean transfers.

I guess that's a nice little hack lol
As long as you reopen it upside down before transferring? I would think if you flip it over before opening it, you would potentially carry your problems onto the next plate anyways, if that condensation dripped back onto the agar surface.

This may be true. For some reason it seems like a lot of the condensation has disappeared. I always do the flick the sides to get rid of condensation method, but it doesn't take much on the surface of the agar to spread bacteria fast.

It probably evaporated, and was absorbed by the agar. Sometimes, when I pour plates, I have extra, so I parafilm them, and put them in individual zip-lock bags. It's not really a good idea to hold on to plates after you make them, but I don't always need 20 at once. The agar usually absorbs the condensation, when they sit in the bags for a while.

I always make more thank I need. Won't be an issue now that I got the flow hood as I enjoy agar work now, lol. Also I got 6 gourmet cultures on agar, that I just received. 4 wood lover spores on agar, hoping for germinations. Like 4-5 new cube spores on agar, hell maybe a couple more, and 4 clones. I think I will be burning through plenty of plates as I like to take 3 transfers each round when cleaning up. Got to get these gourmet grown out and slanted right away.

Woohoo! What gourmet cultures are you growing? Hopefully at least one Hericium and one ganoderma

Don't have those yet. I was gifted 2 shitake, blue, elm, phoenix, and Bratislava oyster. I have a king oyster LC syringe but not sure of its cleanliness. I think I will PC a thin layer of grains in a half pint and hit just one side with a couple drops. Then when it gets close to the other side I will snag a couple grains to put to agar.

I am thinking about going hunting for some Hen of the woods/Maitake to get a culture. I fucked up and only took one transfer from the wild oysters that grow in my parts. It molded on me . They can get fucking huge, like 12 inch wide huge.
