They retreated because the h2o2 burned their mucas membrane skin.

They are, IMHO, not worms but larvea of some kind. once they pupate you are in for a bug infestation.

I see no way this could be helpful.

To avoid this in the future you should tell your friend to pasturize all of his manure first.

yikes! Bug infestation! How long do you think my friend has before things get real crazy?

And for future referrence, how exactly do you pasturize manure?

Thanx.

Pasteurize= heat to 160 deg (no more) for about an hour

Do this by baking moist sub/casing or submerging in water heated to said temperature.

Depends on what type of bugs they are. But they will probably like the substate as it is humid and supplys a fairly safe area to be in. I will assume that they will breed more bugs. The larvae are probable chowing down on the orginal substrate as we speak.

sorry man, I'd say start over, but maybe you'll get some shrooms before the bugs let in contams.

hmmmm...after a few more glances, these creatures really do not appear to be larvae. They are not maggotesque. They hardly have any mass and look very similar to grey pieces of thread. Very thin and tangled up.

My friend said he's gonna keep an eye out and see what happens.

peace.

That is a good possiblity.

If they came from the dung they could also be any sort of parasite that was infesting the host animal that the dung came from.

Just a thought...

yup, that's my guess. Kinda freaky eh?

All seems well now though. My friend has been using a higher concentration of H202 in his mistings and they seem to have died off.

peace out.
