Both cakes were same batch, same spore syringe(supposedly PF Classic), and inoculated at the same time. Look at the difference. They have been growing fairly fast actually.
**EDIT** I know this syringe to have bacteria in it from an agar test. Each jar only got a few drops around the edge.
Keeping a log in my journal, as I plan to keep these labeled and compare fruits, to see if there is any visible differences in them.

So my popcorn is looking good. Somme rice just started but I did find a bothersome spot on the rice. Should I chunk it?

It does look pretty white. Its actually brown rice, but this is my first attempt at everything so I have a bunch of stuff going right now. I'm prepping wbs as we speak. Just trying to see what works for me.

When I played with different sources of brown rice, I found the easy cook was better.
"Part cooked and lightly milled to give non stick grains"
Not 100% sure, but I think they are also cleaner.

I had to fail a shit ton with WBS before I finally got it to work and now I can prep it easy and quick and every time it seems good. I also started with MS to WBS which was horrible and could be part of the reason for that
My bad I don't want to knock your style and trying a bunch of different stuff won't prevent you from doing this anyway, but it might be better to stick with one method and try and get good with it.
I am a noob though
