Yeah I'm thinking it is a Mammillaria longimamma and would like confirmation please.

Hey thanks ferrel. It's the first likely one I've come across. It has eight radial spines and one central.

Agreed. Trivia about this species: it can grow from rooted tubercles or root stock cuttings (I found it out rescueing a very old and battered specimen).

haha I thought so. I was bored with my old avatar and my new one is a pic of a painting of a Kokako.

I hope it does flower this year as it is spring here and it has plenty of time to settle in now. It was sent bare rooted and I have repotted it hopefully to it's liking. Yellow flowers are my favourite too :smile:
