they really don't need much light the grow after the initial pining. However they do need light. You can go to walmart and by a fairly cheap single use florescent setup that will do nicely.

If you don't want the general public to know then don't put them in your living room. Hid them in a closet or a dark bedroom or a spare room.

Maybe pick up one of those large black footlockers. They're not expensive - maybe thirty bucks. Keep everything safely locked inside with maybe a florescent rigged up inside. Take out the setup a few times a day to fan.
