Photoshop??
    #2470073 - 03/25/04 03:31 AM (13 years, 8 months ago)

I need a little help..

Basically I'm trying to get square pictures (like album art) to fit at least decently inside of a circle.. like for a CD.

What method can I use to do this? I'm trying not to cut off the edges of the cover art.. I cant give a specific picture as I need to do it to many pictures.. can someone give me some pointers? I suck at photoshop..

The trick is to cut the corners off :P

Sorry, man.. Its the same story of the square peg in the round hole. :P

I dunno if this will produce the exact effect you're looking for, but I'll try:

Make a perfectly square selection which is a little bigger than the area you want inside the circle. Try Filter-Distort-Spherize. Set the Spherize amount to 75 or 100. If your selection was large enough, most of what was inside your square selection will be crammed somewhat haphazardly into a spherical shape. If your selection was perfect, none of the extra stuff you didn't want will be visible in the new image. There will be heavy distortion near the edges though.

It sounds like you want a filter that will make an image appear to have been taken with a fish-eye lens. Someone probably makes a filter that does just that, but I don't know where to find it. The crude technique above is the next-best thing.

You don?t have to "suck at photoshop" in order to have difficulty with this one bro! This is quite a mission you?ve chosen

Well here?s the best I could come up with, which sucks:

square pic:

ok now I liquified the picture to drag the corners inwards, the corners that would otherwise be cut off during the ?rounding? process:

ok so now its looking pretty ugly.... I then used the eliptical selection marquee to select a large circle that fit the whole thing, inversed the selection (so that everything BUT the inside of our happy circle is now selected), and erased the outsides... PooF, I came up with this piece of crap:

unfortunately that?s the best I can do.... its going to be impossible without warping the picture a bit or cutting parts off  Good luck, Shroomism!

Insert an "I think" mentally in front of eveything I say that seems sketchy, because I certainly don't KNOW much. Also; feel free to yell at me.

*could stare at this for a while*
