Identification Confirmation, Ganoderma Applanatum?

Habitat: High of 52F with a low of 43F growing directly out of the base of a Quaking Aspen. Very grassy, and quite high in elevation.
Gills: Pores, very very white in color, bruising a brown color.
Stem: Pictures with my hand for comparison.
Cap: Brown, dirty, and almost resembling wood.
Spore print color: Reddish brown, mainly brown though.
Bruising: Light brown bruising.
Other information: VERY potent odor, smells of a normal fungus, but super pungent and sweet, slight hints of coco or cocoa.
Ganoderma Applanatum? I am able to scratch the white pores to behold a brown color, hence the name "The Artists Conk". But let me know, thanks!!!

I think it may actually be Ganoderma Applanatum, I am able to carve images into the white pore side, and it indeed does have the same spore color as I've seen images of Ganoderma Applanatum online.
Hope a TI can chime in!

Maybe it's too hard to identify? The pores aren't very big, so it can't be a Fomitopsis, or any other lookalike.

For what it's worth, that poreside picture looks similar to G. applanatum but the topside and other pictures are a little difficult to tell because of decay. Topside picture makes me think no, poreside and other pics make me think maybe. Seems like it's growing on a birch tree (or beech?) which is a good sign pointing towards G. a.
Twas growing off of a quaking aspen. The topside of it is definitely quite damaged and discolored, also quite waterlogged. But it definitely stains and allows me to carve images into the pores. I heard that some Pacific Coast specimen will have white flesh, but I'm about 2-3 states east of the pacific coast.

That specimen seems a bit too far gone to ID. I would check the surrounding area, I bet there are more around. I can't take a step through a forest in the PNW without finding ganoderma applanatum.

Looks like Ganoderma brownii. Not sure how far the range extends outside of California, but I have a sample of what I suspect is brownii from Arizona.

I am going back tomorrow to find more, there were more that I found there, but this was the most mature one I could find. I'll make sure to look for good specimen lol, this one is K/O.
Either way, I will probably still send some of this fungi to Alvalabs so I can figure out exactly what it is. Wish I had a microscope.

Also, this is a photo of the pores bruising, just like the description of Ganoderma Applanatum. I pressed it with my fingers a good bit as well.

All Ganoderma have pores that bruise brown, it is not unique to Ganoderma applanatum.
