Anyone got any advice for me???

I need some advice on making a hemp necklace. I have the beads i just dunno how to really weave them if you have any documents or sites on it let me know or if you could just tell me some simple way to do it.thanks!!! :gd_icon:

I don't know about websites, but I learned from a little booklet that I bought at a craft store. They would probably call it "macramay". It's really easy, but hard to explain in text form, but I'll try and maybe you can get the idea if you try.

First get four stings of hemp, and tie one end of them to something stationary. You will have two stings that just stay in the middle. With the other two stings, you just tie square knot after square knot around the two stationary strings. If you alternate which way you tie the square knot, you will end up with the flat, chain type of strand. If you keep tying the knot in the same direction, you will make a spiral.

I don't know if I explained it very clearly or not, but maybe you will get the idea of you screw around with it a bit.

Actually I think that's pretty understandable. Would the something stationary be like a bar or the arm of a chair or something?? That's the only thing i'm not clear on and by knotts do you mean tie them to each other or to the middle strings

You tie them around the 2 middle strings, but to each other.

Hey, me and this girl decided we wanted to do this the other night.. We got some supplies and a little starter set with instructions at walmart. Turned out pretty good. Ok, hers turned out good, mine looked like a dreadlock or something. But it was fun.. :loveeyes:

With the 4 string way, its important to 'keep the 2 side strings on their appropriate side' if you know what I mean. The wood beads look cool with hemp. Peace out man, have fun! :sun:
