It's pretty freakin' sick. It's not perfect, its really fucking long and could be cut down a bit, but there are some amazing sequences and it will make you think.

Just got back from the theater, which was completely packed. This movie was solid start to finish and the slow pace really worked for it with all the beautiful scenic shots between the sparse dialogue. If they cut out all the fat this movie could easily be 1.5 hours if you really wanted to get down to it, but I wouldn't.

Me too! It took me nearly an hour to figure out who that was and it was bugging me! She was perfect.

That scene where she joined with Joi is the scene of the year. :datass:

Yeah man, that was really impressive.  The whole thing was just so gorgeous.  I agree that a bunch could've been trimmed without impacting the story too much, but it'd be a loss.

I read that it's looking like BR2049 will pull in about 30 million on its opening weekend, way under the 50 mil that was projected/hoped for.  That kinda sucks because this one was expensive to make, and I'd love to see it make a shitload of money.  It's getting the critical acclaim it deserves, but that doesn't exactly motivate studios to take this kind of risk again.  I hope it does well with everything, the folks who made this one deserve to see some success on it.

I haven't heard a single bad review or opinion of BR2049, which is cool, not that I usually give a single fuck what anyone else thinks about anything, but it is just cool to see so many raves about any given thing.

I saw the Final Directors Cut of the original Blade Runner just the other day for the first time in my life.  I had never seen the original, so sappy and I watched it, and I really enjoyed it.  I usually don't like visually dark movies but it really worked, and the appearance altogether was appealing and nicely cohesive.
The casting in the original was great too.  I am no fan if Daryll Hannah at all, and definitely not Harrison Ford's biggest fan, but Rutger Hauer and Sean Young were great, not to mention Edward James Olmos, who I have always enjoyed.  Sean Young was fine as fuck and the camera loves her.  She did a great job in the original BR and it was amusing that she only otherwise comes to mind in that Ace Ventura movie.  I guess she is also in the new one too, which will be interesting to see.

We're going to see BR2049 sometime this week because sappy is a big Goosling fan and neither of us care for crowded theaters.  I am stoked to see it!  I can see why they made another because movie making technnology today would really lend well to the BR world.  There are also some similarities between the BR and Terminator 2 worlds and concepts.  I really enjoyed that about BR because it can really make one think about mortality, life, and humanity and whatnot.  Powerful stuff, dude.

I've heard good and bad reviews about it.

I'd like to see it but I love PKD and have read all of his books and short stories, and loved the novel 'Do Androids dream of electric sheep'.

I imagine it kinda like Interstellar.

Or maybe Tron Legacy.

You know there's a first movie in this series you can liken it to, right?  This film is much more like Blade Runner than it is like Interstellar or Tron Legacy.  Go see it, I bet you like it.

Eh, it's not for everyone.  If you didn't like the first one, I can't think you'll enjoy 2049.  I love the original, it's perfectly suited to my tastes.  So this new movie really worked for me.

There was only about 20 people in the theater and half of us laughed because that line came out of nowhere and was totally serious.

I wasnt a big fan of the pace of 2049, and the sound was way too loud, atleast in our theatre. Other than that it was fine... Some interesting moments involving sci fi tech, plenty of tits digital or otherwise... I cant say i was blown away
