Spent a month transferring/"isolating" different sections of the same original MS culture on agar and two months inoculating different grains using different teks only to realize that none of the cultures produce fruits.
Should have waited for the original MS culture to pin and transferred those.

The three spray bottles near my SAB are all clearly marked 'iso' 'H2o' and 'NaCIO' (bleach). One fine day I saturated the area in and around my sab with diluted bleach spray prior to pouring and innoculating a round of plates, Every one of them only shows aerial myc from the wedges, and no colonization of the agar in the plates, Thinking some of that hypo got in there during my 'Sterile procedure' preceedings

Here's a follow up to my 'Lycoperdon' pin post a couple pages back. Well it aint. neither is it P. Cubensis/Burma. It's a Coprinus, (Thanks to Workman and his Post in the Contaminants forum) Here: and if by chance this species or variety is unnamed, I vote for C. Halitosius, cause oh my lord do these insubstantial fruits have a horrid odor. Workman states, these are usually a result of natural spore load and improper pasteurization of dung/straw substrates, they appeared in one small tub of semi pasteurized (I guess) Hpoo/straw/verm/gyp, two large tubs from same substrate batch are fruiting the MS Burma I had intended,(YeeHaw!) with none of that distinctive aroma. Took several attempts to get a spore print (Dark brown to Black as Workman predicted, even getting photos of mature fruits is difficult, as once the stem begins to elongate, the are already starting to deliquesce, I'd estimate in 2 hours they are gone. Here's some pix, from pin to mush. Wish I could upload the smell for ya' all
Here's a pin
Here's a cluster

Here's two sets of mature fruits

a cap beginning to deliquesce

and a chocolate brown spore deposit

That’s actually pretty cool ^^
Well I misted my first pan cyan tub thinking they were tall enough to sustain droplets but nope, half the little guys heads almost instantly blued. Gonna harvest later, i’ll be lucky to get a couple dry grams from 1 qt spawn lol

Thanks Germs, I think your grow will recover from that little setback, Keep up the good work I only recently learned about potency levels in P.cubensis V other actives, looking for semilanceata, I'm finding all are 'Out of Stock'.. guess Ill try cyans or er, that other one looking at images of panaeolus sp, im thinking yields to be quite slim (by weight anyway) they appear delicate and insubstantial. I usually favor quality over quantity anyway, and the challenge of cold weather woodlovers is tempting. Peace All.

after weeks of colonizing I just lost about half my spawn to the green.
now it looks like some of my spawn may also have serious bacteria problems.
I shouldve kept a better eye on them. If all goes as I am hoping I will have a clean tub of GT started this weekend that will boost my spirits.

I hate when I think everything is going according to plan, only to find out that I'm really back where I was when I started a particular project, Or worse, without any usable cultures. I began paying more attention to my procedure, and trying to make at least two of everything in case of failure for whatever reason, I'll still have something to work with. Did I just say work? hell with that, Im supposed to be retired

I'll be posting in this thread a lot, I've been cultivating for a bit over three months now and the more I learn, the more it seems I need to learn. Here's a good one, while not a 'Today's Fail', it's still pretty epic.
I spawned 6 fully colonized pints of BRF cake to 12 quarts of pasteurized hpoo+, make up 2 tubs, then put these, several colonizing LCs, about ten pints of semi colonized grains (was experimenting with wbs, wheat berries, and spelt), plus all my plates, into a small closet area in the cellar. Its getting pretty cold here in the notch, especially at night, and I'm going to be away for a couple days, so I include a really nice thermostatic oil filled radiator set to 70f, then drape a blanket over everything to keep dust or whatever out. Upon returning I'm anxious to see the progress, when I look at the temp/humidity monitor its reading 103f Wiped out everything that I put in there. I figure the heat rising off the radiator was trapped by blanket, while the air was still circulating around the bottom of the heater and so it keeps on pumping out the btu's and roasting all my poor myc. I assume the 103 temp I saw isnt the peak level reached, the myc looked fine at first glance, it just never made any more progress,
Sometimes I think I'm just so darn smart. Shrooms bring me back to reality. Peace All.

A half gallon jar of 2 month old APE alcohol extraction lightly tapped the sink and split right down the middle of the jar spilling the whole concoction into the sink after just being removed from the jar, blended, and put back into the jar.

Given that ethanol is a poor solvent for psilocybin and that water is an excellent solvent for psilocybin, I would extract with water and then add grain alcohol to bring up the content to 60 proof. Assuming the whole reason for making psilo tincture is to store it at room temp.
Otherwise I just make tea and freeze it.

Everclear extraction does work, gota soak for like a week tho.
I was thinkin about that awhile ago , make tea , cook down then add everclear n store, itd defanitly work faster n better, prob taste like concentrated shit tho, the ethanol way tastes bad enough as it is. I have no urge to ever try tincture ever again tho so . Store boomers good n theyll last forever n just portion the night away whenever you see fit, i personaly like the taste of cubes, its like popcorn

The point for the alcohol extraction in this case was to cook away the liquid into a sort of concentrate that can be made into edibles. Specifically cakeballs.

Had a jar of a tamp clone stall. Opened the jar up to remove the contents, and there was an agar wedge stuck to the roof of the lid blocking the air exchange ports.
