I don't blame you brf is way more expensive then grains
Still makes me wonder.

But why would reducing the amount of brf decrease weight while the standard recipe is "boarder line too nutritious" if we're basically maxing out nutritional value why wouldn't the weight be similar at lower amounts.
We already think our 1/3 ratio for grains is too high (depending on culture) compared to edibles for instance.
The old recipe before 2:1:1 was 3:1:1 its been done and still needs consolidation with a reduced yield. The 2:1:1 was found to be the best bang for your buck and I've tried most flours wbs works great rye works ok wheat was very very sticky oats was heavy.

Was the 3:1:1 recipe made with brf? I feel like you could get away with WBS as you mentioned at a lower ratio then brf. But like I said I've never done cakes so my knowledge about them is
I also mean this in regards to yield as well.

I have about 75g of moist coffee grounds (from making coffee every morning). Is it worth saving it up and using it or should I just chuck it?
Getting mixed messages from old threads (talking about actives not oyster) some say omit it as a contam nightmare, some say use instead of BRF and some suggest only up to 10%

they grew next to a window , i feel that's why the went to the side ,
also the room they were in doesn't have very good sun or air exposure , so it was hard to get that evaporation going ,
besides that , how can i improve ?
i harvested the ones opening and left the rest for later ,
gracias !

try polyfil for your fae holes instead of ez felt or micropore tape, that would allow for more evaporation and airflow..

The drops on my plates have formed a very round, fluffy circle. The syringe was exceptional, and the growth looks very healthy. Do I even need to transfer? I'm noticing no contams as well.

On it, boss. there's no limit to when I can transfer, right? I have two colonies almost ready to meet, and I plan to take from the larger one.
Also, loosening the lids on Pasty plates wont fuck up the whole thing, right? Popping off the master plate and the new ones before getting started is fine?

I was just curious if anyone had thought of or tried these as filters. Not sure of the pore size.
Its a cigarette filter for the roll your owns. A friend had them so i had him give me a few to experiment with.
Length approximately 5/8" Diameter approximately 1/4" Cost 2 or 3 bucks for 200
I plan on trying either way but thought I would ask

eat where did you get that sweet lid? I googled and could not find anything like it. Maybe my search terms were off.

Is it possible or worth it to move mycelium from a stalled WBS jar straight to AGAR? Jars stalled due to moisture content, no visible contaminants.

If you guy are looking for a brf replacement, find a nearby or even far away rice mill. You can buy a 50 lb bag of bran from them for 5-10 bucks, and its more nutritious than brf.

Like Cronicr said, in terms of biological efficiency it's hard to beat BRF. But can you use other mediums to grow shrooms? Hell yes, I used buckwheat flour, oat flour, or wheat flour with average results. The mix tends to be sticker and hard to work with (especially wheat, probably because of gluten?), but yeah you can grow shrooms on different types of flours.
For instance, this one was verm + 100% bread brown wheat + water (usual 2:1:1 ratio)

This thread could be a nice idea btw
