Hello TC's
I now have (most likely) clean LC of a few edible varieties. I am 98% sure that contamination and such are not an issue within the LC's that I have. They look great and have looked consistent for some time.
To get to the point::
After all of the work to get the LC's, what do I do now? With winter approaching, I am wondering if these will be all for naught.
Why bother with LC if MS is practically the same thing? Maybe, what are the benefits of the LC?
I have had successful PFTeks, decent agar work just for experimentation purposes, a few outdoor grows working, but other than "Inoculate anything you want" with LC, I am sort of at a loss of where to go and how to best utilize these suspensions.
Thank you all.

Thats pretty much it. Make LC use it once colonized for inoculations. Want more LC go back to a master culture and make a new one.
Most edibles don't come as MS they come as LCs of an isolated culture since edibles are legal to ship around.

So, can you make a master culture from an LC?
What is the real benefit of the LC then anyways?
Is it just skipping the "two spores germinate and grow" phase, so as to limit another vector/chance for contamination?
Then, are LC's better in some techniques than others? for instance G2G or bags, etc.?

When you buy your edible culture it will come as a LC in a syringe or a wedge or a petri dish or spawn. Take that and make a master petri/slant.
Use the master to make more petri dishes of mycelium. Use those to make more LC.
Whats best is whats best for you

Is there more nutritional value in wbs or brf? Could one grind up wbs to a powder to make of cakes or is brf better nutrients for myc ?

You'll have to ask the mushrooms. We don't know how nutritional anything is to them.
They both work great. Chances are they're both far far far more than nutritional enough.

How does this look gentlemen?

Pooling water on the sides of the sub i dabbed it up with a paper towel last night but more has come over night.

Also just noticed this guy pop up. It has a semi greenish tint. Could this be the green meanie or just primordia being formed. Sorry super newb here.

It's in fruiting currently. Been in fruiting with pastys dailed in micros for about 5 days now.
Idk if you saw this but I snuck it in an edit. I just noticed this pop up yesterday, but today it has a semi greenish hue and I'm worried it might be trich.

It is to the left of the center of the pic and very faint. Looks like a shadow but its a light greenish hue. Primordia or trich you decide.

If that's so why don't we lower the amount of brf?

Consolidated cakes pump out 7+ grams first flush done right. Maybe less if you use less brf.

I've never done cakes tbh.
But why would reducing the amount of brf decrease weight while the standard recipe is "boarder line too nutritious" if we're basically maxing out nutritional value why wouldn't the weight be similar at lower amounts.
We already think our 1/3 ratio for grains is too high (depending on culture) compared to edibles for instance.

Try cakes with less maybe you can skip consolidation then and get more throughput

Unfortunately PF and the ones who came after didn't take good notes or documentation of the trial and errors or reasons for the way things are.
And i don't care enough about cakes to do the trials
