I already read bods harvesting piece he has posted, but I have a few questions. I just bought a dehydrator and would like to know two things from some TCs. First, how many of you let them dry on a table or screen a bit before putting them in a dehydrator or do you take them straight from harvest to the dehydrator within under an hour of picking fresh? Pretty sure in bods work he takes them straight to the dehydrator, but I just want to confirm. Im nervous about putting them in this new dehydrator, if never used one, always used air dry and desiccant to get them dry enough for short term use. Ill be saving them for over a year now probably so I invested in one. Second question is how long and at what temp do you dehydrator using TCs prefer? I know some dehydrators dont have adjustable temps, mine has a few selection from 95F to 150F so not sure which has been found to work best for you all. Last question is once I have them cracker dry, is it a little redundant to vacuum seal them with a tiny food safe silica gel pack inside with them?
So those are my three questions at the moment that I couldn't quite find enough info to satisfy myself by using the search button. Thank you in advance and I appreciate you TCs for your continued contribution to our community here. Have a good rest of the year! :-)

Immediately into the dehydrator As hot as it goes 160-170 Once cracker dry you put in an air tight jar no need to fuck with vacuum sealing or silica.

Thanks man. How long in the dehydrator as a general estimate at the temps you recommend? Overnight? Also can something bad happen if I leave it in the dehydrator too long?

Cant go too long. Weigh a sample when it doesn't loose weight over an hour or two its cracker dry. Big shrooms can take 12+ hours

Years,
storage is very well covered topic easily searched. Same with drying. Since everyone has to do it.
Cubes last years properly dried and stored any which way they wont absorb moisture from the air.
Everyone wants to have some fetish for drying to the extreme using vacuum pumps and dessication aids. Idk who can keep shrooms around that long anyway. Besides you can grow more

The "mycelium" has very noticeable growth after about 20-24 hours.
The growth overall look tomentose but recovery seems to fast. Based on my limited experience anyway

So this is a plate after my original post. I had plenty more so i took the lid off to get a clear picture since they all look the same.
At first i thought it might have been mold but im not sure.
Is it possibly a hidden contam riding along or is the agar possibly overly nutritious? Ive never had plates look like this

its cube myc, just not healthy. nothing a couple transfers can't fix. what was your agar recipe?

hello ! i just posted this on the cultivation pic of the day , then saw this thread and it looks more appropriate
====== it's been a while since my last grow , and now i have this mazatepec monos that were just put into fruiting conditions , the last time i had a hard time with poly cause of the room air fluctuations and ended up with bad flushes overall , now i'm trying pasty's tape tek ,
i have not seen any dry rings around the taped holes , is this normal ? ( the smell inside is fresh , not stagnant air smell or CO2 ish )
i left a small gap in the top holes on one and that one has dry rings ;
i know i must teak the conditions 'till i find the sweet spot , but am i looking for dry rings or their similar with the tape ?
any comments are well appreciated !

All I know is co2 doesn't smell.
Mix your spawn and substrate more evenly

forget about the walls and evap rings. all that matters is how the surface of your sub looks up close. is it covered in tiny beads of water? mushrooms grow from the substrate, not the walls.
example of water droplets on sub surface

Can i use colonized sub to inoc more pasturized bulk sub? Like a gtg but using colonized bulk sub [rye too bulk sub[or spawn too bulk ] to pre pasturized bulk sub[steer/straw/verm/gyp]? I see no reason why not, unless cube mycelium responds bad to mixing/breaking apart once 100% colonized?
Nvm, i guess general consecious states, it wont produce well, risk of contams, lack of nutrient, andis generally not practiced.
