bod mentioned this grow looked to wet. the fruits grew to decent size but they bent over. i noticed the same thing with aa+ when i did another grow but with much smaller fruits.

i guess im wondering if this is genetic or conditions?
The mushrooms that are tipping over as they mature probably have a mutation commonly seen in true albino mushrooms. IIRC mushrooms switch from a geotropic to phototropic response as spores mature and the cap starts to open.

Good vendors use a centrifuge to separate spores from contaminated and like munch said bigger jars which can simply be stored...even a penis envy cap the size of a quarter will make upwards of 30 syringes

I only store them that way after I lose the luer lock lol...the lick is better suited and I also only store spores syringes like that otherwise I get a cap full of spores

paegan said: Hey there, it is my first grow and I have questions about fruiting.
I am using a shotgun terrarium with saturated perlite and grow light 12/12, but didn't realize I needed to elevate the bin off the ground until today. Cakes have been sitting in there for almost a week now (I waited 1 week after 100% colonization before birthing) and I haven't been getting any pinning yet. It smells really "mushroomy" in there and the mycelium has overtaken much of the casing layer and still looks healthy but no shrooms...
What else can I do apart from elevate the bin and mist occasionally to induce fruiting?
Nothing just keep misting and wait!

I assume no one responded to this because no one does it? because... Spores take too long/ more work/ more chance of contams?
Is it ever useful to add some genetic diversity back into a isolate without going back to the master print/ MS
Inbreeding has its ups and downs but general rule being ya want to use your earliest prints possible as they will degrade eventually

Id suggest about 80/20 coir to verm and around 10 qts per 66 qt tub and around 20 cakes to spawn it

Sovren198756 said: Hello, I'm new the site and have no idea if I am responding correctly. I am interested in cultivating myself and aftersome research I have a few questions. Initially , after a web search, I was going to jump right in and buy a "grow kit" along with a 10cc spore syringe. after some research, I have discovered it is likley not this simple. I have read a comprehensive guide outlining the rice cake and tapered jar method, and am assuming this is an alternative to the grow box, and that either way I would need to transfer to a teranium after colonization? Or would this occur in the box? Any tips over all would be greatly appreciated and very helpful ! Would you suggest starting off using the grow box ( one which is intended for this very purpose but does not effectively outline the entire process ), and then, assuming I need to, transfer to simple teraniums made out of plastic bottles ? Then perhaps try my hand with some tapered jars and a more elabrote teranium ? No idea where to start.
Please forgive any stupitiy or incorrect terminology, I am very new to this but eager to learn!
Yes the pf tek will work great for you you will need a fruiting cjamber for the cakes so research the shotgun fruiting chamber

mos619 said: I made a batch of oats using worm castings in the soak water. I put PE to those jars, and they're growing twice as fast as some B+ I knocked the same day to jars prepped with just coffee and gypsum. All are clones and were kept under the same conditions, the only variable seems to be the castings. I might have used slightly bigger wedges when doing the PE, but I don't think that would account for such a radical difference.
My question is, is there any reason not to add castings to your grain soak? Like why do all the spawn teks only mention gypsum and coffee as additives?
Because you dont need any other additives for grain spawn. Coffee speeds up colonizing gypsum keeps your grains from clumping....and some will tell ya you dont need either

ob1kinsmokey said: Issue: 10 days later after doing a G2G on a gallon of grain, I still see no signs of growth or recovery. This is only my second time with bags but I let the grains dry longer than usual this time after a typical preparation. But I think it's too dry now.
I transferred 2 fully colonized quarts into it.
There are no signs of contamination. I was thinking I could inject some sterile unused LME/dextrose mix that I usually use for lc, or some colonized lc I have from the same culture.
What do u guys think? Possible to recover?
I would just try again
