Sphagnum Moss

is sphagnum moss ok to substitute for peat. It says it holds 20 times its weight in water.

sphagnum moss is a type of peat moss, i think its from more swampy areas. it works great. make sure you use hydrated lime and crushed oyster shells to buffer it though. 50/50+ recipe.

sphagnum is most likely the only type of moss you will be able to get

Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.
