Jar on the left was from a fresh plate, jar on the right was from a plate that was sitting in the bench for about 12 months same culture. There’s no difference.

I get a kick out of reviving old cultures. I've still got a small lunch box full of probably 150 slants of more than 2 dozen species of edible and psilly culture. Most are a decade old now.

I was going to take an old shitake plate one of those nights, but when I stuck into it it was like jelly, so that one I’ll have to make some transfers.

So what do yall recommend to case the ovoid tub with. 🤔? How to wet and prepare it? I've got some old happy frog soil really stale and maybe a lil cactus soil

Tub is in warmer temp and cut areas recovered FAST and looks like the cold temp primordia aborted but new ones are forming

I wish to get some ovoid clusters

I just cased some shoeboxes of ovoid. I sprayed the sub down real good, which was fermented pine spawned with a very old bag of sawdust with potting soil. And cased it with potting soil with a small amount of sawdust mixed with it. I just sprayed it all down real good like it got a good rain. I did two shoeboxes, ones in the garage, and I brought one in the house. It’s a clone, no idea if this’ll work. Getting these things to fruit in containers has never worked out for me. The potting soil had a lot of decomposed wood in it, not all peat and coir.

Been letting this shoebox of ovoid sit in regular fruiting for the last few weeks, just going to ride it out and see if anything happens. Just grain + coir, sitting at 68 degrees.

Little rhizo fingers started reaching up.

:awedance: nice ovoid trials guys :takingnotes: thanks for replying and for your information 👍 I will try and add my own trial in mix. I see my wood tub has devoured the wood and pins abort often seeming exposed to air and misting in cool Temps. I brought it into warmer Temps now and plan to case middle or half the tub to see it it helps form mature clusters

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to share a post from another thread, but I believe it really belongs here!

As you all are aware, more so than me, it's going to be a while before I can share!

I'm just excited that it's actually the big nipple hoogs!

Try semperviva. Grow almost the same as cubes and a cleaner experience and no anxiety

I actually just found someone selling a liquid culture of semp/hoogs!

You know, the ones with the
"wizard nipples"

I was gonna wait but from everything I'm reading hoogs are super rare so I'm going to get it and try and keep the species alive!

For all of us!

=]

Yes, I will ABSOLUTELY share genetics!

Suggest you grow a Cube or Nat first before you try any exotic.

Also highly doubt they are actually Hoogs. More likely just Subtropicalis still being mislabeled as hoog var semperviva.

Oh shit!

I clicked the wrong thread!

My bad!!

I'm such a noob!

But yes I do have nats going right now, and your right, it's probably not hoogs!

I'm going to take a chance on it though!

The pictures they show in the description are definitely big nipple hoogs!

So I had two quart jars of ovoid spawn that looked dry. So I made a lil Pyrex tray dish spread them out. Misted well then sifted cactus sand , fine particles on top just to cover , then misted well and put in baggie and in shoebox tote. We will see if I coax a river mimic flush from it or not. I got enuf to experiment

I hope it recovers under the sandy soil and pops a few clusters

Pics soon as I see some rhizos snake around

Here’s a really cool presentation the local group put on. I think this really helped give a picture to our relationship with this particular mushroom, our history with it, and just how fucking complicated we make it today.

Yeah, I'll watch it in a bit. I've known Paxton on Fakebook for years, but I think I met him at Telluride in 2014.

Anyone know what happened to holofractal? His last reply was back in May, but his profile says he was last seen in October.
