To all of you with problems from outdoor beds,I stopped making beds because worms, slugs, bugs would eat the woodchips mycelium and everything! The beds hold too much water also and everything is going contaminated or rot or something like that! I have much bigger success with my tubs on the terrace let them dry out for the summer and rewater back in begging of fall... I even get worms up on the terrace I don't have idea how they get up there but they will destroy your mycelium and woodchips! So even up there I will dry out the tubs to get rid of em!
The most problems come from live shit inside your tubs beds etc!
I had one subs bed destroyed this summer by worms one bed of allenii almost destroyed by now again by worms and it would not fruit this fall for sure!
I will start making the tubs hanging in the air because I am so tired and angry to look all my work get fuck't up!
And all woodlover mushrooms can survive dehydration!

Those worms come from fly eggs. If you stop flyes/bugs from going in... problem solved. Micropore tape?

On another note I recently got an azurences print and someone told me I should start them ass soon as possible. I have no experience with wood lovers so far.
Any advice?

You definitely should start ASAP. Azzy spores don't last as long as Cubensis for example. Just get a clean growth and you will figure out the rest along the way.

I didn't know that flyes/bugs can carry earth worms! I don't think they do I think that they are coming from the terrace drain it's connected to the main sewer so they are crowing up when it's raining, I live in a house 🏡
Btw Adas is right about Azzies I had problems with half a year old print nothing happened!
Last year I got a fresh print in fall and they were bomb 💣 fast and angry eating everything I give them!

I have a cyanescens tub outside on my deck.  I attached a sheet of small gauge stainless steel wire mesh to the top of the tub to keep out marauding crows.  As a bonus, the small gauge of the wire also keeps out flies and all but the tiniest bugs.

The tub's resident spider, Boris, has graciously spun webs around the (elevated) bottom of the tub to keep tiny bugs from entering through the drainage holes.

This is my original post as I’d like to spread them all around the PNW
https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/26254987

Well my grain to Alder Wood chips has worked really well and successfully here
it is the middle of August and I already have pins poking up

I have a unique set up to keep the slugs away from the mushrooms ,
they are sitting on a cart with the tubs placed in between ladder runs this keeps the slugs from being able to go up into the containers

Great job. Nice idea w/ladder. Dam slugs will ruin a flush overnight.

Adas I appreciate the knowledge on the azzie spores.  Been trying to revive decade old spores for months from my only print like a moron.  Geez... Derp.

The pins in the first shot appear to resemble P.cubensis more so than P.cyans. Any updates on their development?

:whathesaid: Great idea with the ladder rung tub set up:thumbup:
