What are we talking approximately.. 1-3 months ish?

Exactly that. And after that you can pasteurize it just to be sure, but not necessary IMO

Ok so I knocked up a quart grain jar of Psilocybe cyanescens with a multispore syringe with no real plan or direction to take when it was done. After 100% colonization (which only took three weeks) I had some wood chips from a pet store (reptile department) Which I hydrated and sterilized. Mixed them up in a shoebox and things are cruising right along. It’s April now and summer is coming so not sure exactly how long the box will take to reach 100 and I’m just keeping the box under my bed nothing special at the moment and after only three day the myc has latched onto the wood chips all over the box so it would seems things are good. So I’m wondering if anyone here has had experience fruiting ps cyan. In a shoebox outdoors. I’m thinking late fall early winter would be good, hopefully it doesn’t have to sit fully colonized under my bed for too long. Suggestions?

Expand half the box to start your outdoor patch snd keep a box load to fruit as it will be ready months early.  The out door patch might not fruit this year but the box will.

For a good crop, yes.  I started in November, the prior year.  I have a bed now, that has been nourished for two full years.  The first year was a good harvest, ample for our needs.  The second was luscious, sensual, voluptuous in chocolate carmel goodness. I have fed the bed another layer of chips, I cannot wait for what this year will be.

:airguitar:First signs of colonization on one of my two boxes of chips/sdust (mountain ash, birch, poplar, willow).  Three jars of brf/birch sawdust spawn layered like... 5-6 days ago.  My other box was started with chips I colonized with an overgrown germ plate I wanted to play with (which I'd dropped to sterilied birch chips, which were transfered to said box while my spawn for box 2 was colonizing).  Thought it wasn't colonizing the chips and went to cannibalize it for box 2 intitially and lo and behold there was myc crawling through the cardboard and chips... so I covered it up and pretended I didn't do that thing.  :tryingnottodie:

Salvaged a few chunks of agar from a dirty-ass T2 plate to a spare popcorn jar just for shits and giggles.  Popped off quick.  Let's not talk about the unnecissary amount of agar stuck to the top of the jar behind it...

That's one of the reasons I do colonized block in tub, cased. Not only can I move the tub, but I also put non-toxic slug pellets down.
I also put small stones at the bottom of the main tub to help stop worms trying to climb up bottom drainage holes.

White: Colony, Brown: Casing, Blue: Rain or watering.

You still get critters, but it helps.
