yeah the flies like damp soil & peat, they lay their eggs there, eventually lil worms will be eating the mycelium. fungus gnats. with plants, i cover top of soil with like 1cm of sand, gravel, or other inorganic material. the flies cant dig too deep to lay their eggs.

not sure what a good option would be for mushrooms, but idk id guess having a fully colonized block etc with a thick casing layer all around maybe could restrict the gnats to the casing layer, and would only cause minor losses

ive had flies take over once when doing cubes. lots of trays in several sfc's in the corner of grow room, indoors, mid-winter. it was a lil overly humid, and high temps, which i think contributed. ultimately, everything ended because of algae and trich, took a bout two months until it was all out of control, but i think the flies were helping spread contams, MCUs. and i thin kthey originated from the plants. in the end, id open a box and 100+ flies would swarm out...

indoors, in tubs or similar, i would worry about it, dont wait until its too late. outdoors, especially in the ground, i wouldnt worry at all.

we're fruiting in the grow room again rn, but open air, and only been a week or two. theres flies in there, only a few tho.

-side note- one of these blocks rn is halfway burried in a potted plant, and theres hella tiny centipedes all over it now. every time we harvest a mushroom from this block, all the centipedes come out in the open and run around in a frenzy... centipedes are predatory bugs, so i am not worried about them eating the block, in fact, i kinda think they might be "holding down the fort", eating any fly larva or other pests that might try to eat the block.

Last night was the most intense mushroom trip in my entire life! Psilocybe Ovoideocystidiata was the strongest trip along with only one previous psilocybe semilanceata trip... I ate the top 3 mushrooms from this picture...

And I was so out of it nearly 5-6 hours that I was loosing consciousness and when I stood up I almost puke and faint...
It was so bad I could not go to the bathroom almost fainting and puking every time I stand up from my bed...
The experience was so intense I couldn't see reality to the point I don't know who I am and where the fuck I am...
They were so strong I wanted to die and stop this nightmare... It was stronger then DMT and I felt so so bad about the fainting sensation and the gut feeling of almost throw up I could not move!
The trip was so strong I could not see how to go to the bathroom to take a piss...

The last pic definitely looks like a ovoid from pics I just looked up. I don’t know what else they could be?

According to Alan Rockefeller in his video. Stunzii and Ovoids are the only two wood lovers that have a ring (veil remnant-annulus) so that should help.  Looks like Ovoid not blue ringers.

There are a million different phenotypes of Ovoids. But they share some common characteristics.

Has anyone made a list of these characteristics?
Its awesome that there are trusted identifiers in here. Are there any threads discussing the nuances of identification?

Has anyone here ever experienced psy cyan grow in a sealed jar? I boiled some pecan wood chips back in October then Jared not very sterile I know and then shot up with a syringe of wild psy cyan spores.

Anyways the jars turned all kinds of colors so I figured lost cause or maybe I could make a compost with the jars come spring. Yesterday I just happened to notice a tiny golden cap mushroom in the jar, I know since it's wild spores it could be anything.

I was gonna take a pic today but the other molds consumed almost all of it. I looked closer and noticed this one was not the first one. The caps are gone and now I'm curious since the spores left behind are blackish purple.

I've been keeping the window open in my room lately since it's warming up but it's very chilly at night. I'll keep an eye and post pics next time one shows it's self.

Doesn’t sound pleasant, didn’t know anyone went from spore syringe straight to wood, but I’m a noob.

I’ve spawned ps.serbica (oat jar) to hw shavings, cardboard, newspaper, Apple wood layering.  Do most let it colonize in the light, dark or does it matter?

I plan on putting in pots and doing novelty grows once colonized.

It was my first time trying a wood lover, did popcorn jars as spawn and figured the spores germinate in the wild on wood so I tried a few wood only jars. I'd say 1/3 of each jar looks to be colonized with some type of mushroom myc. I think I'll open them out side and bury then see what happens.

I can't believe I'm the only one this has happened to this can't be a first time. Any experts seen that scenario before? Stress fruiting? Not planning on eating anything from the jars just was really shocking to see.
