I think nematodes would only work in enclosed type of grows like greenhouses, but I could be wrong. I used to work at a farm and we used these wasps that kill all sorts of pests. U can buy wasp eggs on paper tabs and hang them near ur grow. Salt works but only till it rains. Unless maybe if u used a boarder of really course salt rock, like for driveways.

Exactly big bag of rock salt and draw a circle around the patch Usually only have to reapply at one time during the fall twice if it rains a lots. I still check on them though because those sneaky fuckers will literally drop off of trees in the suicide bomb the patch Lol

Look at these ovoids that were in mushy mud most of the year. Very over saturated but they loved it thanks to that exact mixing method that happened on accident. Sometimes city maint does you a solid by complete accident.
I shed a tear from how beautiful that field of ovoids is.

This was a thriving King Stropharius patch that succombed to mold due to clay soil. This also happened with actives so enhancing drainage if you have clay soil is another factor in failure.

I've been toying with the idea of stuffing burlap sacks into bags and hitting those up with LC. Once colonized, just lay em down and pour a three to four inch layer of chips on top.

Alright guys I’m giving ovoids a go. I streaked some plates on MEA about 2 weeks ago. I haven’t seen any growth yet, should I keep these at a cooler temp to germinate? Will using MEA work for ovoids? I appreciate any feedback

I can agree, Only one time I successfully germinated ovoids, from a swab, other times no germination/bacterias happen. I like the way I got mine
1 get a fruit or a colonised grain or stembuts etc... 2 put a manageable piece on boiled cardboard 3 put in an envelope and post to the target 4 got a well cleaned petrie dish and put the materia in there, sprinkle a bit if neccessary 5 wait for the aerial rhizomorphs 6 grab those on agar 7 cultivate it, if bacteria happens, toss them in the fridge for a month or so then make a clean transfer 8 whatever you want
Also an idea... You can create a spore sollution, keep them in the fridge, and after a month you get out for 2 days, then inoculate into sterilised sawdust+woodchips (I prefer not adding bran, but I usually make 20 jars 10 with bran 10 without). Wait a bit to start (something will) Then put the jar again into the fridge to help them against moulds and bacterias. After 1-2 months you can have some mycelium but on sterile media, then it is easier to transfer to agar.
Do not forget! I'm a believer
Peace

I keep hearing about ovoids being difficult to germinate... I haven't had any problems with them. Germinated my own print out of curiosity. Took a few days. Then I took two prints from Adden. One turned out to be dirty (or maybe my process was), the other germinated again in a few days.
For germination, I use MGA (malt-gelatine agar), where I replace some of the agar-agar in the recipe with gelatine. For example, if a recipe calls for 10g agar, I take 7/6g agar and 3/4g gelatine.

I have had absolutely no problems germinating Ovoids on MEA or PDA agar and it is quick like 1 week. These spores are from the PNW if that makes any difference which I doubt. Some times I get uneven ball like grain colonization despite shaking then stalling but other than that they germinate like any other exotic I have done.
