Forgive me if I missed it somewhere but, does/or has anyone inoculated logs with Psilocybe cyanescens spawn? I’m planning to try it only because contrary to what people say about them only growing of wood chips I found many last year growing right out of logs. Let me know what you think? Also curious about unexpected places you have found ‘any of the wood lover species’

That’s a good point Ferather. I figured it would take at least a year to colonize, however if say P. cy’s were able to colonize logs like oysters we would probably see more growing that way in the ‘wild’ The ones I’ve seen growing from logs were small and sitting directly on the ground and yes fairly decayed already.

Cloning one from a log is a good idea. I'm planning on cloning a bunch of p.cy's this winter. I have never found Ovo's in CA although they are around occasionally.
I have new backyard so Im hoping to get a patch started, so next year it will fruit. Initially I scrapped a few spore prints onto a wet cardboard sandwich and threw planer saw shavings over the top... well see if that takes.
In the meantime I have some agar plates with P.cy myc started, its super slow though.

What is your favorite agar mix for them? I had 2 other plates all PDA using a different p.cy print and neither would germinate.

Gonna try Ferather's recommendation on using T-Gel recipe next time I make some agar but for now this is what I have.
This is the transfer that is doing the best so far but moving slow and looking more cottony that rhizomorphic.
Any thoughts? transfer? Just let it keep going?

Really cool fruits Zifozonke especially the bottom pic second from the left with the weeping caps!
I made some T-Gel last night and did some transfers of p. cyanescens myc today.... we'll see how it likes the Tea.

The T-gel seems to work well with P.Cy any idea what the center discoloration is?
The shit in the bottom is the tea, I'm making more T-gel today but rather that throwing the black tea in like a raw ingredient I brewed the tea first so I won't have loose tea in the agar this time.

Age, metabolites, dead or dying bacteria. Azures produce the same segmented growth on T-Gel, I believe that is multi genetics, and you have a good chance to separate them. Wedges made from selected areas (isolated) tend to grow out more radial and uniform, T-Gel transfer 2. Below are images of Azures transfer 1.

Note: Also works with Cubensis, even plain tea.
Thanks Ferather, yeah the sectors are super clear and defined, gonna isolate some.
elpico that ovoid pot looks great, I gotta try that too! Sorry if I missed it but what did you case the straw with?

Do you just bury the cardboard in fresh chips in the park?
Yeah I just look for areas that: 1, have lots of wood chips 2, watered regularly 3, not too much sun
We’ll see if anything takes
