How many times and for how long would you set the sprinkler to come on, say if there was no rain for an extended period of time?

My Cyanescens outdoor mini-beds are still doing nothing. It has rained the last 2 days, but the wind already dried out some of that moisture. Temps should be good, but I think they want some more rain. I'm hoping to see at least something this year.

Same here. Temps have been pretty cool but a bit weird.. still has been warm during the day occasionally. Been using a sprinkler to water my patches when it's not raining

Not sure if they need more water.. not sure how long to let my sprinkler run on em..

Or if the temps aren't quite right yet

I guess they will tell me when they are ready lol

probably easily findable info but anyways i'm asking here for discussion as well

at what point should cyans be harvested?

how long does it take cyans to mature?

GGMM says fruitbody development is 10-20 days i believe unless i'm mistaken for azures

there was a few caps which had some sort of black, idk if its some infection or maybe it got damaged and bruised dark?

any worries about consuming outdoor fruits? if its some sort of bacterial infection is drying them enough or should i toss any bad ones?

There is pins, or what looks like about to be a fruiting patch under the leaves.  Id rather not even mess with for a pic.  It is there M.O.  You see none here, none there, and then spot one and notice that they're all over if you look hard enough.  Try not to disturb the microclimate guys.

kinda feel like i been messing with the microclimate when i go out and take pics.. :frown:

right on when you say about not seeing some then spotting a ton all over

The only thing i've been using to cover them with is burlap which i don't think would protect em from hail

didn't consider hail at all

not sure i really have anything to cover em with.. i guess i'll look around

I might be beating a dear horse here and I think it's been debunked for cubes as far as I'm aware of

But lightning or electric being used to increase yields of matsutake and shiitake I think, as well as others

Has it ever been tested or discussed for active woodlovers? I don't suppose the Japanese tested psilocybes, or any other active woodlovers for that matter when they did the study

I'm tired and writing this on my phone I might need to come back and edit this for clarity but I didn't want to forget

yeah i guess the practicality isn't really there, still wonder if it would benefit any active woodlovers though as there's probably been no tests on it

i could've sworn i read that it wouldn't benefit cubes or someone along the way tried it and it didn't but i can't remember at all where or if i read this, if anyone knows what i'm talking about..? it's probably an older thread

catnip, What did you end up doing for the hail storm?

it never hailed fortunately but it stormed like crazy and rained for awhile so i'm sure the patch like that big gulp. the temps are dropping a bit. after work tomorrow i will probably cover up patch with some leaves or green leaves like stevo said

how much leaves should i put on to protect/insulate the pins but also not hinder growth?

the temps during the day arent too bad but nights are getting a bit cold and theres so many pins i dont want to abort

yeah i was just concerned in general but yeah, its gonna be like 40-45 today but drop to high 20's low 30s so ill probably add a thick layer of leaves before it gets dark

but yeah the light.. how much of a problem is that?

i ended up laying a bunch of burlap over the ivy and the pins. the burlap is rested ontop the ivy so its above the pins

then i put a decent bit of leaves over top the burlap

that should keep heat in as well as be a pretty nice microclimate under there right? minus the light

i watered the patch pretty well before covering her

at what temps and for how long does it take for pins to abort and the patch to stop producing?

i feel like you said they can handle a little freeze. last night i didnt cover them and it went down pretty low, like 29- low 30s. at the moment its only getting cold at night and the days i'd say are still pretty good for cyans

there is a nice flush right now
