How can i plant aminita muscaria and aminita pantherina? Can I take spores from dried caps of each vaerity? Can i put the spore prints or dried tissue on a pine tree or birch tree root? Can someone give me step by step instructions to get them growing and when? I live in new england Boston area to be exact and I have a ton of birch and pine in a shaded area. I am new to all of this. Help and step by step instructions would be Appreciated since i consider aminitas a sacrament in my religion.-Skytraveler420

There's not really a consistent reliable way to do it, you'd honestly be better off EXTREMELY carefully hunting for them.
Please don't eat them unprepared, or the ibotenic acid will fuck you up.

The traditional way is to bury the mature (sporinating) cap amongst the roots of a suitable host tree. I've been doing this for a few years. As Bodhi says, it's not exactly a sure-fire method. This year I'm looking to get fly spores onto agar, grow onto grain and bury that in the roots (probably with some fallen autumn leaves to grow onto) as logically it would seem to offer a better chance of the mycelium surviving. I've heard it's four years until you get fruit. Good luck and let us know how it goes

Amanita muscaria can be found abundantly throughout the USA, you just have to go about hunting them during the proper season. I would suggest reading what Amanita expert Rod Tulloss has written about them, you should probably understand what you're looking for, and Rod is well versed in this area.
Here's RET's page on the species you should seek in your area of the USA.
http://www.amanitaceae.org/?Amanita%20muscaria%20var.%20guessowii
Also you should familiarize yourself with the lookalikes which frequent the same habitats as the muscaria types you seek, some would not be wise to consume. Always take a lot of pictures, and post your finds in the mushroom hunting forum before consumption. Remember, when in doubt, throw it out. Don't be so eager to consume mushrooms, that you put your health in jeopardy.
They're mycorrhizal fungi, meaning they form symbiotic relationships with trees, I don't believe they can be cultivated indoors.

I wouldn't recommend growing Amanitas for noobs. Even professionals have trouble growing mycorrhizal fungi. If you're determined, try a morel tek.

This is true. You wont be able to grow one without a tree.

I just put amanita spores to agar yesterday. the plan is to plate it out, then try A2G. that spawn will get tilled in the soil directly against the roots of several trees (i will likely score the root surface a bit, intentionally). I have designated a live oak, a yellow pine, Chinese holly, English holly, and a pecan.
I'll let you know how it goes.

I hope I’m not hijacking here. I am not going to eat I’m Amanita muscaria either. I too like them because they are pretty. I think I have always had an attraction to them ever since I played Mario Brothers as a kid.
