Shaving vs crumble.
    #2466407 - 03/24/04 04:46 AM (13 years, 6 months ago)

What do you folks like to do most when putting a casing together?
Crumble the cake? Or shave it with a cheese grader?
It seems like a grader would help make a more even substrait layer, but I'm worried that I might be harming the mycelium...

I've never heard of shaving it  :nut: seems like it'd harm it like you said.

Well its alot tougher then you think. When i spawn cakes to poo or straw i place the cakes in the blender and sprinkle the powder on. I do this with great sucess so its is not as fragile as ya think . Good luck

Shouldn't be a problem using a cheese grater on cakes and casing them -- other than high temps in summer making for small fruits.

Well I tried both last night. I must say, I really like the cheese grader approch. It was much easier to get an even substrait layer, and the material didn't shift as much while laying down the casing layer..
