Lack of oxygen causing slow colonization?
    #2465448 - 03/23/04 11:23 PM (14 years, 2 months ago)

Hey all, I innoculated my jars well over a month ago and after two weeks I had given up hope, today, for the heck of it I checked them out, and surprise surprise, they all have some mycellium growing. Now when Innoculating I didn't follow a proper method (uneducated) and only inoculated in the middle. This could be the cause. Do you think a lack of oxygen would have caused this slow colonization? I think its been a month and a half, and the most is 1 jar at 25%, and these are Quarter Pint jars too! However, the jars were inside of their original box, covered with newspapers, inside of a bin in my closet. Would this have caused slow colinization? BTW, if it matters, the strain was EQ.

brf im guessing... temp for incubation is a major thing... if not at least 80f its gonna take a long time to colonize...take whatever you have covering the hole on top off....

Should I put them in my comp case?

EDIT:
I just checked and it says my CPU temp is 96 F, 36 C. Will that make my case uninhabitable?

Will a temperature of 96 be too hot?

the CPU temp is local to the chip itself. you might try putting a box on top of the puter case, or on top of the monitor, more radiant heat there. put a digital thermometer in it. 84 to 86 is the best range. better yet, use a thermostatically controlled heater, not that difficult.

throw the whole box on top of the monitor...nice and toasty up there!
