Condesation in PF cakes
    #2464920 - 03/23/04 08:48 PM (13 years, 2 months ago)

I've noticed some condensation forming in my BRF cakes and from other posts i've read to remove the tape from the holes i did this and it did not help the condensation in the slightest, so i then loosened the caps a little and still no help, i'm worried if i losen then any more that contams might get in. Is there any other way to relieve the condensation?

Some condensation won't hurt! If it starts to collect at the bottom, then it might become a problem. I havn't had a PF jar yet that didn't have drops of condensation in it. Turn it upside down for a couple days, this will allow some of the water to drain into the verm at the top of your jars plus help pull in some fresh air for your myc.

I turned them upside down that helped a little bit but in 2 of them there are huge drops, i'm able to get the drops back in the cake part that hasn't colonized, but i'm worried that once it colonizes that the drops could harm the cakes (at least so i'm told). So for these should i keep them right side up and hope that it build up in the top verm layer and then flip then upside down again?

I flip mine like, once a day. I doubt that it will hurt as long as its not to, to bad. The cake itself might absorb some of it once it starts to loose its moisture.

By the way, you don't have to start flipping them until like 40%-50% colonization.
