grettings all, i got a question hopefully some of you can help me with. i recently put out an order for some psychotria viridis leaves along with some syrian rue seeds. i haven't really messed with ayahuasca preparations before, all the times i've had it someone else had made it using rootbark, but i personally have never done it before. from what i understand you take about 3-5g of the rue seeds and when effects are noticable (about an hour or so) you follow with harmine. my question is how much chacruna leaves should i use? (how many grams?). could i just powderize the leaves and eat or should i cook down into a brew?

any advice and replies would be much appreciated.

Yes... Research is called for here.

Ayahuasca is a powerful brew and MAOI's can be dangerous (I forgot I had a single square of chocolate in the afternoon 1 time - BAAAAAD move)

probably nothing. harmaline is an maoi-a , thus making it a rather safe maoi compared to the pharmaceutical maoi's

i don't have much experience with MAOIs but in my little experience with caapi/rue, i have never noticed any interaction with foods. i guess these warnings are more for pharm MAOIs.
not even the ayahuasca churches in brazil mention fasting (besides sexual fasting, which is something i'm yet to really understand).

I usually don't notice interactions when I take syrian rue at very low doses, but if you take a medium sized dose or eat a bunch of cheese or other stuff that's on the no-no list, I've gotten some pretty bad headaches, but they usually go away after about an hour. I personally recommend fasting from these foods to prevent such unpleasant experiences, especially if you take more than a small dose. Smoking rue can be calming, but it can be especially harsh on the lungs if you use seeds.
