Habitat:Found these in south jersey jus a few miles from the delaware river in camden county across from philly. Also need to confirm if edible Where does it grow? Eg. woods, pasture, state, province, country, altitude, etc. What does it grow on? Eg. soil, dung, wood (dead, living, what kind of wood?), etc. These where growing along a trail on the side of a football/baseball field complex jus in the entrance to the woods.the where growing off o tree roots. Oak or cherry wood roots i believe. It thought the roots to be alive but not sure as i pulled from under the truffs they took some wood or bark with them lol. They looked similar to some of the Gymnopilus pics of species u had listed for jersey and PA but the pics all differed to much till i saw a pic of the Gymnopilus luteoviridis species and looked on wikipedia and found it said they are fairly common in all of the northeastern state. And they are exacty as discribed to the point im 99.9% sure but would like to confirm b4 handing any out to friends. Gills:Gill where a really lit creamy yellow but started turning rusty 5-10min after picking even though i keep the truff n bark/wood pretty intact. The stem was a lite tan or creamy yellow and buised purplish brown Color, attached/not, gills/pores, etc.
Stem:1-4" Length, diameter, color, texture, hollow/solid, thin/thick, etc.
Cap: cap was yellow w red patches of spikey hairs an gave a scaley illusion. And the patch color got darker towards the cap center. Size veried from about 1 3/4"-3/4" Diameter, color, texture, conical/spherical, convex/concave, etc.
Spore print color:redish brown rusty Very important!
Bruising:purple/brown Color that the mushroom bruises, if any.
Other information: is been unusually cool and damp the end of this summer n believe this is why they are so abundant. Also i went to my moms 45 mins south in lower glouster co. N found a truff fairly easily i only been hunting 2 years n mostly jus looking for shrooms ive never seen n scaning the ground while walking my dog but these things found me the first set of truffs anyhow. I really wasnt expecting to find more further into south jersey near cumberland co. In lower gloucester co too!!! Scent of the mushroom, anything else you think is important, large close-up pictures showing stem, cap and gills.

gymns usually wont have light stems. I find their stems are generally the same or close to the same color of the caps.
I agree with Cham the man
