I live on the texas gulf coast. There has been some lovely weather. It's warm, moist and sunny. Everything is growing but mushrooms! I hear of mushrooms growing elseware in the area, but have yet to see an active mushroom growing in my feild sense winter! Could I have "overpicked" the area? Last year, late summer, cubes flourished in this field! What could be wrong?

Could be a 1000 different reasons cubes aren't growing. In my experience with cubes in the wild, they are very picky fruiters. If things aren't exactly right for the fungus it just won't fruit. Although cubes do grow in your area almost year round, give a month or two and there should be more growing.

I was under the undstanding that anything in the 65F - 79f rage just after the rain was prime hunting time for cubes, the least fickle of shrooms.
