Swiss Steak Wyld Style
    #2461106 - 03/22/04 07:13 PM (12 years, 8 months ago)

OK these are damn good, just cooked em tonight

(in fact they're in the oven baking right now as I type)

What you need:
4 tenderized Cube steaks
1 Onion, diced
1 Bell pepper, diced
1 package fresh sliced mushrooms
1 small can tomato paste
1 reg sized can of diced or whole tomatoes
1 small packet of spaghetti sauce seasoning
1 cup flour
1 package of 'italian' pre-shredded cheese. usually it's mozzorolla and parmesian
3 cups instant rice
1 package cream cheese
kraft parmesian cheese (powdery stuff in green cans)
crushed basil
crushed oregano

OK in a large, deep frying pan melt some Crisco (or like product) just enough to coat bottom of pan. While that's warming up dump your flour on a large plate. next add a few pinches of orageno and basil, two tablespoons of powdery parmesian, then pour about half the packet of spaghetti seasoning on it all. mix with your fingers. Next coat both sides of all your steaks with the flour mixture and brown in the grease. Don't worry about getting them all the way done.

While the steaks are browning prepare 3 cups of instant rice per instuctions on box. Once the rice is done cut the cream cheese into little cubes and mix thoroughly with rice. Throw in a handful of the italian cheeses. mix mix mix.

once the steaks are about 80-85% done remove from pan, but leave grease and crunchies from the flour flaking off. Sautee the chopped bell pepper, onions, and mushrooms in that grease. Add a small handful of the flour mix while sauteeing. After you sautee the veggies for a while toss in the can of diced tomatoes. Add the remaining packet of seasoning and about 1/4 cup water. once all the is mixed then add the small can of tomato paste, and 1/4 cup water. stir well, if the sauce gets to thick add more water, if it's starting to look thin add more flour.

once the sauce is mixed, pour about half of it into the rice/cheese mixture. Mix mix mix. Scoop rice mix into a large casserole dish. Next nestle the steaks in the rice. Cover steaks with some shredded Italian cheeses. Pour the rest of the sauce over steaks then sprinkle with more shredded cheeses.

cover with foil, bake 20 minutes at 425. Take foil off then bake for about 10 more minutes.

MMMmmmm these are gooooood.

I wish I had a digicam!

MMMmmmmmmm... Finaly read the recipe and damn. Good to see that someone takes time to prepair something good...

Tip for ya, look for Top Sirloin Steak to go on sale and ask your butcher to tenderize a few 1/2 inch cuts for you.. Usualy cube steak is made out of top or bottom round and is verry lean. This is good but cube steaks made out of top sirloin steak are killer and these go on sale all the time.
